Of course Jill has 13 gaming machines 😆

Maybe Dusk? It doesn't have a puzzle element like half life but it's got fun gunplay and movement and the art style is cool.

@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I wish more people would care about monopolies fucking up the infrastructure of our internet.

Is this any different from creating an icon which opens the website in a browser?

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Are you using Wayland when you run into these monitor issues?

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Same I want to move over so bad. It's so smooth and the animations feel much nicer but there is always a deal breaker issue that sends me back to x11 within a few hours.

An app that tracks how much time you spend using each app. Locally obviously. I want this information so I can see how much I should donate to each project each quarter.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Exciting. Hopefully the linux youtubers do some comparisons so we can see if this makes a noticeable difference.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Damn that's a huge performance increase wtf. That's a gpu upgrade worth of performance for free.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Sounds good. It's a win win. People that doesn't like the system d implementation can use doas or keep sudo. I Hate the name though. Run0 is dumb can't they just steal the name doas

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I like their company and what they do for Linux. I wish I had a use for a laptop but then I would be stuck between system76 or framework.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I haven't noticed a huge difference from kde 5. Wayland works for normal browsing and computer use but breaks when I play games so I'm still on x11.

Finally after many many years I have gathered my friends together and played divinity original sin 2. The first session was very fun and we all had a blast. We couldn't complete any storylines because someone kept aggroing every npc and by the end of the night we had killed every npc in fort joy and used about 20 rez scrolls and many reloads.

After we got out of fort joy and agreed to put our muderhobo ways behind us and keep a good standing with the traders. It lasted about 5s before someone threw a bucket at the lvl 8 skeleton trader and he killed us all. After a reload to previous save we managed to sell our loot and have 1 npc who doesn't hate us.

I would hate to be sitting next to this guy.

If it's as private as they claim it shouldn't be an issue.

A personal argument for a benefit of gaming

I grew up hearing all the talking heads (media), religious groups and parents strongly criticizing video games. You've, probably, heard some of this. For example, video games involving any type of violence causing people to become more violent, etc. As far as I know, the academic community has failed to produce any negative...

Honestly beating that game at such a young age shows a lot of problem solving capability. However getting angry at games is a habit you want to nip in the butt asap.

Playstation controllers work for. I've tried ps4 and ps5 ones with no issues.

Fizz ,

Thats when you show them the picture of 4chan meetups and ask them if they want to end up like that.

Israel using Meta's WhatsApp to kill Palestinians in Gaza through AI system ( www.middleeastmonitor.com )

According to software engineer and blogger, Paul Biggar, however, one key detail on the methods employed by the Lavender system that is often overlooked is the involvement of the messaging platform, WhatsApp. A major determining factor of the system’s identification is simply if an individual is in a WhatsApp group containing...

They really don't provide enough to back up the insane claims they're making. I would take all this with a massive grain of salt as it's most likely bullshit wartime propaganda designed to stir people up.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Beyond all reason. I stared a few months ago new to the genre and after 100 hours of multiplayer I still sucked I was the lowest rank getting flamed most games.

Now I've got 250 hours under my belt and I'm really enjoying it. Started doing 1v1s which sped up my progress as it forced me to address the weaknesses I'd developed from playing 8v8.

Jellyfin federated would be so cool. Maybe a peertube front-end could achieve something similar.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I really want to love peertube and use it but the transition is hard. I feel bad for "wasting" server space and compute and when I view the video on peertube I'm making my favorite creators gain less traction on YouTube which directly affects their income and growth.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

It needs a recommendation algorithm. Search is simply not enough to find videos you may like.

Search would be enough if it had the content library of YouTube.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

That's not as bad because the amount of money they get for 1 view is less than a cent and the sponsor still pays. But if youtube recommends me a video from a creator I like who has only 5k subs and I don't watch it because I saw it on peertube youtube might think the video is bad because the channels audience isn't watching it.

Reading through that article I somehow ended up on the bazzite page and then went down a rabithole learning about the system76 scheduler. Just when I thought I'd settled down now I want to switch to bazzite to try out the system76 scheduler.

But I'm not sure what's better for overall performance. Bazzites modifications or glorious eggrolls modifications.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Goddammit this all sounds so good. My final and most important question that decides if I switch. What does the neofetch icon look like?

Edit: I just looked myself and its a controller which looks cool but i don't really like controllers. 🤔 hard choice but I think I'll try it out.

Are there any innovative platforms in the Fediverse?

I've explored a few platforms within the Fediverse, but most of them seem to be inspired by and mimic existing mainstream social media platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook. While this familiarity can be comforting, I can't help but wonder if there are any truly innovative and original platforms out there that offer a...

That linux section was a fun read I never knew how the async saving worked until now.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I don't think it is. Mint is based on Ubuntu but still shows up as mint. Arch is very popular

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Nah in that category it was separating steamOS. Here is the stats for operating system for Linux.

Yeah you can filter stats by OS then click on the linux os section to get more details then you'll see what I screenshot. I had to dig to find it.

Makes sense. There is no way you let a foreign adversary control an app that serves 100m of your citizens emotionally charged shortform content.

That would similar to the ccp owning every major American news network combined.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Im curious if you think it would be OK for ccp to own to own CNN and fox news and control broadcasting for hundreds of millions of Americans.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I never said the us was any better. im very aware of the us influence on the internet. But there is a big difference between the us and China and say the us and britan or the us and (any small country that isn't allied with the us but is to small to go independent).

Adversarial nations that are big enough to break free of FAANG company already have. Russia and China do not what the us dominating their social media landscapes. Why would the us allow China to dominates its social media landscape when they can ban it and supplement it with companies that are within their governments arms reach.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

If I was American or the American government I would be.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

It is creepy on a personal level. But it makes sense for an influential nation like America to own their own media. From a national security point it makes sense because American corporations have to comply with the American government. This also extends to America's allies who also operate in the space by as much smaller players.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Why do you think they are Banning tiktok?

Isn't Isreal blocking all aid into gaza?

Google fires 28 workers for protesting $1.2 billion Israel contract ( www.nbcnews.com )

"Google issued a stern warning to its employees, with the company’s vice president of global security, Chris Rackow, saying, “If you’re one of the few who are tempted to think we’re going to overlook conduct that violates our policies, think again,” according to an internal memo obtained by CNBC."

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Is it not perfectly fine to fire people who think it's OK to come into an office and disrupt work for 9 hours and force law enforcement to be called. I can't think of a single place that wouldn't sack me on the spot for doing that.

I'm not fully aware of us protest laws but i was under the impression to protest you had to do it on public property. Seems like this is blown out of proportion because the writer agrees with the cause.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Would a union be able to do this? I feel like a union doing this would be just as bad but Google might hesitate to fire them due to union backlash.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I am pretty sure they could sue for wrongful termination if they conducted their protest properly and respectfully. You can't fire someone for exercising a right.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

When I read they they were losing money per search I immediately thought of speedy Pete's search engine. Which was probably British guy in his shed who would return you your search results because the search engine only worked for a few hours a day and took 3-10mins to get a single result.

Fizz ,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

That's definitely the right way forward but I'm to jaded. People who brought the crew don't care about this stuff and stopped playing many years ago and I'd be surprised if it still has 0.1% of the player base wanting to play. To me fighting to preserve the crew is like complaining about a happy meal toy breaking.

I think legislators are to old and unfamiliar with the gaming world to know how bad the situation is. They can barely understand right to repair and that's a simple concept that their generation should understand.
