A North Texas man has filed a class action lawsuit against Cinemark, claiming the movie theater chain is lying to customers about the size of its drinks....
I think I got about 50 dollars over the course of two payouts. Which was significantly more than my "damages", so I was happy.
What made me less happy was they printed the checks on these non-standard size or material cards, so my bankat the time gave me a hell of a time trying to deposit the 100% non-standard sized or material check.
are you me? Cause I was confused as fuck cause i could not remember making this post.
Cause I've been saying the same exact shit.
Discord is fine for friday night fuckaround with your gaming friends.
it is not a repository of information, and shouldnt be treated as such, because it can not be indexed and archived.. So the overwhelming bulk of people that need that information will never find it, and that information will be lost when the discord disappears.
same reason it shouldnt be used as a support system.
I was a long time Windows user, starting with XP. I only tried Linux a few years ago, and while I loved it, at the time I had to dual boot for a couple specific Windows only things (VR and flight/racing sim hardware)....
To be fair, the people at the cutting edge of modern computing are statistically very likely to be Linux users. Therefore it’s not entirely unreasonable to have some prejudice against Linux users.
Can we drop this "linux is hackerman territory for cheats" stereotype?
Most people cheat on windows. Not cause they are technical or knowledgable.. but because they have a credit card
cause they buy cheats designed for windows.
The overwhelming majority of people out there cheating are cheating using tools they bought and use on windows.
So if anything, its Windows that should be treated as the pariah dog of hackers. Cause its where the credit swiping script kiddies are.
Besides the backported bullshit from windows 10 (which could be removed, admittedly, you'd have to know it was there, and which package to uninstall..so not exactly newbie friendly), what was hostile about windows 7?
I used it from release day until EOL and I found it to be the best version of windows ever and the pinnacle of the platform, before it started taking a hard drive with Windows 8 and fell off the cliff with 10/11.
Windows 10/11 is why I'm on linux now, and on linux to stay.
A major reason that Windows is “popular” is because it’s pre-installed on desktops and laptops
I think thats being a bit disingenuous
its also that Windows has always been easy to use because it has an good GUI thats easy to navigate and figure things out with. You can sit anyone in front of a windows machine and they can figure out how to use it and what to do in relatively short order without spending half the time in internet searches or trying to decipher esoteric terminal commands. Its easily one of the best point/click/discover UIs as far as OS's go.
And its understandable that it easy, considering they've probably poured billions of dollars into making the GUI easy to understand and use for any layperson since windows 95 began development and the move away from dos command line.
Sadly their GUI started to decline with Windows 10, and I have not touched 11 with a 10 foot pole, so I dont know how good/bad it is..but I wouldnt be surprised if its worse than 10.
There was a time 10-20 years ago when what you said wasnt a joke, but a promise and a threat, lol.
Linux has come a long way in that time. Not just technically, but usability wise, and even in the mellowing-the-fuck-out of the community that, at a time, were very aggressively against making things more user friendly and letting people into their exclusive technical club.
and I'm glad for it. Its good for the OS, and its good for its future, and its good for the community.
It should be law that online only games, when shut down, must release their server software, so the games community can continue to play and use the software they bought.
also make it law that buying software means you've BOUGHT IT. not leased access to.
and I 100% guarantee they dont want to say lease cause they know people wont be willing to pay 70 fucking dollars for a game that they are renting for a time to be dictated by the developer/publisher, which you have no knowledge of. Is it 3 months? 6 months? 12 years? Who knows!

Now we're adults with failing health, beaten down by life and full of regret, and we cast a longing eye back to our better days and can only see the flaws,as we have long since lost the wonder.
Since yesterday, I'm encountering some weird double click bug. Everything I left click on is now doubleclicked (selling, equipping, etc) and my right click works as single left click (I dont get the menu to drop items which is very bad when overloaded and get surprised). I found this on reddit and was tempted to make an account...
Cause sudden random double clicking on your main mouse button every time you click is the classic example of a mouse switch wearing out.
I had the same thing happen once, only one game was sensitive enough to pick up the double clicking consistently, which made me adamant that something just started going wrong with the game.. and was resolved when I tested another mouse just to shut people up.
The mouse reliably double clicks in stalker every time and nowhere else. Its statistically unlikely that this has any other cause than the game, either through the game itself or steam stuff.

I only have a handful of games I cant play, and thats due entirely to their shitty choice of DRM.. and thats not a big detriment cause that obscene DRM would have kept me away on Windows, anyway.
I think I heard of them being used in Arma/Milsims so you can turn your head slightly left or right, so your character looks to their left and right on monitor.
I have several idiot family members running linux.
Its been zero problems. Of course they are not power users, everything they do is pretty much via a browser. Though one does have a scanner/printer set up (that runs with no issue)
only tech support I've ever done is get the question once a year asking "ubuntu says I should upgrade to this new version, should I?" and I say yeup.
Its still a full desktop computer, regardless of whether you can hold it in your hand or not.
and because your monitor comment reminded me, I dont remember where I saw it so I cant pull a link to it, but there was a guy who recently won a gamejam or some other similar programming competition, with a steamdeck plugged into a monitor.
I could understand, and even agree, with your position if it was some specialty single purpose hardware running a heavily stripped down and modified linux to make something like those chinese emulator handhelds... But its not, Its literally a full use OS on desktop hardware, the only difference is that it fits in your hand.
So like it or not, Thats a daily driver linux desktop, People use and interact with it daily, doing everything from web browsing to production work on it, So it definitely counts as a linux machine and should be reflected in the linux statistics.
Only one being pedantic is you, and about the shape of the computer of all things.
In my experience, its cause monitors are already over priced, and adding a display port to it seems to add at least another 100 on top of that.
Which is why I prefer HDMI. Less cable headache too, since I only have to keep one type of cable in stock and so i can easily switch for testing/diagnostics/layout change purposes.
I didnt say they did, I said they seem to, since in my experience every monitor that had similar spec, but had a display port, was about 100 dollars on top of whatever the hdmi only one had.

As far as people using steam on linux, who participated in the steam hardware survey?
Presumably, since the percentages for the displayed 4 Distros don't add up to the total usage. Which means there are two conclusions. survey results are bugged, or they are only displaying the top 4 distros only, and all the other distros (like me on Nobara) don't make some arbitrary cuttoff for listing. Which makes since, since Manjaro and Linux are at the bottom of the display with only .07%.
I think Nobara is the distro for gaming. its easy to use, has a brilliant and supportive discord thats friendly to the new/unknowing, and all the gaming headaches (like steamtinkerlaunch that require compiling from scratch on a certain other popular semi-default distro) are all ready and raring to go, either from the get go, or via a simple and easy tool.
I've been on linux for a relatively short time. only 6ish+ years? hard to remember off the top of my head. and Nobara is legitimately the best experience I've had out of everything I've tried.
Not going to base my personality around or become obnoxious about pushing it, but its definite the most click and go distro for gaming that i've seen.
What it looks like is an image you are gonna look at and realize how stupid you were in retrospect when the inevitable tragedy occurs from allowing your pets to treat a washer/dryer as a fun place to play and hide.
"but I always check first!" Yeah, until you are busy one day and don't. Then you beat and broil your pet to death in the most cruel and inhumane way possible.
No idea how many times I've seen pictures like this, that inevitably..Maybe a week, maybe a month.. maybe a year later, inevitably end up with tragedy and sobbing, and absolute refusal to take any personal responsibility for what they did.
I think we're already at the day where 32gig of ram is the reccomended minimum... as long as you arent playing modded minecraft/cities skylines, where like..64/128gig are the minimum, lol.
