I know Canada semi-recently said a company would have to honor a deal its LLM came up with. I have to wonder if they would hold people liable for hate speech if they hosted a LLM that outputted Nazi propaganda.
Gog-games has returned; if you missed it, they went private for a while, then announced they were coming back in a week. They seem to have come back early.
By default, in the US, you have copyright on anything you write. Putting a CC license at the bottom of your comment is a waste of electrons, unless you're making it CC for some reason besides a futile attempt at persuading a scraper to not harvest your data.
I've got some DOOM WADs I have been meaning to play so I would probably grab Trench Foot, Total Chaos, and the sequel to Ashes 2063, Ashes: Afterglow with a portable install of GZDoom to play them....
In the months since I deleted my Reddit accounts and joined Lemmy, the lack of user base growth has made it clear that we need some users to stay on Reddit as a means of shepherding more users over on an ongoing basis. Otherwise, Reddit simply got what it wanted: less users who make a fuss about how it manages its platform...
I think the reality is that no one on Reddit gives a shit about Lemmy. I used to see if my comments were being deleted by a mod by opening the permalink in a private browser window. I don't know if admin removal has a more complicated way of masking it or not.
The mods of all the major communities there remove comments criticism Hexbear and usually follow it up with a ban. It's absolutely clear what is happening and it shouldn't be allowed to continue.
My stance is that Hexbear is a bunch of fascists spreading their ideology and Lemmy.ml is helping them doing it by banning dissenters. I believe that freedom of speech only works with parity, and giving fascists a one-way echo chamber with which to spread fascism, deny genocide, brigade, and otherwise act in bad faith should be entirely unacceptable. People should not be getting posts from Lemmy.ml on their feeds because this "curated" discussion is basically the memetic equivalent of an engineered virus, and it cannot be allowed to spread.
(politics, slang, derogatory, by extension) A supporter of authoritarian policies and actions by the Soviet Union, China, or other nominally socialist governments.
Any right-wing, authoritarian, nationalist ideology characterized by centralized, totalitarian governance, strong regimentation of the economy and society, and repression of criticism or opposition.
So yeah, Hexbear isn't full of fascists, it's full of tankies, which are just fascists with a socialist coat of paint. The fact that I'm doing this because I was actioned by a moderator acting as a tankie commissar doesn't change the validity of my reasoning as to why being federated to Lemmy.ml is a problem.
Checking the modlog, it looks like a moderator gave me a site ban for 14 days and a ban from the community where I made my comment for 30 days. I find it interesting that it lists my site ban as being from a moderator and not an admin.
I think it's a bit wild that we're still federated with instances that engage in censorship like this and have ideals that run counter to ours in so many ways. We literally have "No tankie shit" as an instance rule, yet we still let people like this spread their echo chamber nonsense through federation. You do realize that if they're allowed to spread their ideology freely when we aren't, that they have an advantage? “Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth” and all that good stuff.
They have decided we aren't worth listening to and their only reason they keep us around is to evangelize to. The fact I got an instance ban for this should be all the proof you need that discourse with these people is dead.
The fact I got an instance ban means the admins were involved and were endorsing the tankies. The problem exists at the highest level of Lemmy.ml, not just in a handful of communities.

I went to get a new phone plan and one of the plans I looked at has Netflix included. Am I counted as a subscriber if it comes bundled with something else I need, but never use Netflix?
Unfortunately (in this case), freedom of religion, in the US, only protects your right to practice your religion free from persecution. You can't break the law and then justify it by saying it was a form of religious expression.
The police are too busy firing less-lethal weapons at peaceful protesters to do anything that would benefit society. They were within the law, doing what they did. I'm not saying I support it.
Even if it's ruled illegal in the US, there's nothing stopping AI companies from moving their operations to Japan where copyright doesn't apply to training data.
My only complaint, based on the image you posted, is that I had to look at the len above the === to tell how many equal signs there were in that operator.
EDIT: After checking the website (and looking at the operator again), the font uses custom ligatures. However, the full version also costs $150.
