    There are other options like Tauri that do the same thing as electron, but instead of bundling chromium with the app, it relies on the OS provided web view. It’s also built with Rust, which tends to be faster.

    As an example, Mac would use Safari, Windows would use Edge (chromium), and Linux would likely use WebKitGTK, which is what safari uses.

    By using the default browser, developers save a ton of space—at the risk of compatibility issues, which are very very rare nowadays.

    Also, kde neon runs perfectly on my 2013 MacBook Air. I’d argue with plasma 6, kde just knocked pop! Down a peg.

    Is there a unified scanner (the hardware) driver like what we have for printers?

    I'm building a sw that should be able to read the papers read from a scanner and process them with a minimal user interaction, basically I don't want the user to jump into another sw, output an image or doc, and insert that into my sw, this kind of problem seems to be fixed when it comes to printers printing, but I couldn't find...

    It’s always better to buy the better thing. But, you can get a Chromebook for under $80 USD if you can operate on a 16gb disk. < $300 can get you a ton of features. This is obviously not for heavy tasks.

    Ubuntu Budgie ran really well. It is an HP 11 G5, 4 ram 16 disk. Most things are pretty snappy, but with that low of ram and no space for swap, it’s advisable to do only a few things at once.

    Asking for a Linux (or non-Windows) laptop during a job interview?

    I'm interviewing for a software dev job currently (it's in the initial stages). If things work out, I'd absolutely prefer a work laptop with Linux installed (I personally use PopOS but any distro will do), a Mac will be second choice, but I absolutely cannot tolerate Windows, I abhor it, I hate it... (If all computers left on...

    Maxed out is 2300€, which is actually a great deal for what you would get. And since you don’t have to choose now without being able to upgrade later, the sub 1000 entry price makes this a really amazing machine. I’ve been looking for a PC to run alongside my MacBook, but as we all know finding the perfect Linux laptop can be difficult.
