Yeah, obviously, or the title wouldn't even have happened.
And it's been that way for a while now. Back when windows 10 happened, I was able to install mint, get most of my preferred programs set up, and handle data transfer with zero CLI use. Which was awesome, because my dyslexic ass would have taken forever otherwise. It wasn't until I started putzing around for pop and giggles that I even opened a terminal.
My mom w as able to jump right in after installation of mint, and go through the gui to try things out, no issues.
I think the key is to use it as one aspect of the world, not the entirety.
It sucks, but humans in the real world are very prone to xenophobia against other humans, and it can be about some pretty dumb characteristics. But not everyone does it. Any time you might have a despot enforcing their prejudice, there's a resistance to it in some part of the population.
Now, it is perfectly fine to just not have it be in your game. Ttrpg play is largely escapist, so you can just leave things out. You can even forego the usual dwarf/elf antithesis if you want.
The second part follows the first. You either use that kind of tactic as part of your world to make it realistic, or you keep it escapist and use only the more broad "evil" of the bbeg being power hungry. I don't think you can use terror tactics like zersetzung in a morally ambiguous way at all though. It's an act that is inherently harmful to people and society; the exact situation you're using to describe it is proof of that. You'll never be able to use those tactics and not be considered bad later on, so a bbeg using them is definitely unambiguous.

The deck is a great toy, but you have to realize its limitations, prepare the players, and never, ever let it be an unknown. The characters should always be aware that it exists and it should have a reputation in game just as bad as it does in real life.
You tell the players ahead of any possible pull that it's optional, that some of the effects are ruinous to a character, and that there's no take backs. Make very certain that they know that the odds are only slightly better than Russian roulette, and that the outcome can be just as drastic for their characters.
If you aren't willing to put that kind of effort into them gambling in a way that can fuck up the campaign/adventure/world you're running, then don't use it at all.
You can nerf the deck instead, changing or removing the extremes. But that takes the "fun" out of it. And there are people that love the rng craziness of it.
If it's done right it is fun. But it's so easy to do it wrong that it isn't usually worth it when you can get similar results with good storytelling
Does it use embedded lyrics or insist on using the internet?
Secondarily, does it offer any of the more useful tagging controls and library management features?
I keep looking for a Linux native player that can get close to musicbee. Haven't found one yet, they all lack major features like batch file renaming and organization.
The Amarok Development Squad is happy to announce the immediate availability of Amarok 3.0 "Castaway"! The new 3.0 is the first stable Qt5/KDE Frameworks 5 based version of Amarok, and first stable release since 2018, when the final Qt4 based version 2.
One of the one plus that tmobile gave when they required 5g capability. It's partially degoogled, but otherwise pretty standard. Headphone jack + sd slot, and it gets the job done. I can't recall what the general name is, something like a nord 200 or whatever, but the model is de2118.
Decent phone overall tbh. I thought I would hate it, but the battery life is solid, the audio is "good enough" for road trips, and the size is just right for my hands.
That was inevitable. It's why I never use anything that can be compelled. Make the fuckers work for it in the event the government turns you into a criminal by passing a shitty law.
They're gonna want to recoup all their investment as fast as possible. And, with the typical pricing of "audiophile" players being fairly steep, having one that's also a phone in function, the only way to do that is to price higher than they can their other products.
I could be wrong in that prediction, of course. But I don't see them trying to step into the phone market at the budget range.
Homie needs to stfu and realize that he's the middleman in a proxy war and stop saying stupid shit in public that could damage his ability to do his job.
So I have this external 2.5" drive salvaged from an old laptop of mine. I was trying to use it to backup/store data but the transfer to the drive fails repeatedly at the ~290GB mark leading me to believe that maybe there is a bad sector on the drive. I tried to inspect the drive using smartmontools and smartctl but since it is...
Too far gone at this point. It sucks, but every drive has an end of life. After that point, no matter how many hoops you jump through, they're read only until they quit entirely. I think that's where you are now, so even if there's something in the thread that works to get it back to being able to write to it, you should consider what you get on there as read only, and maybe that only is "only once".
A North Texas man has filed a class action lawsuit against Cinemark, claiming the movie theater chain is lying to customers about the size of its drinks....
Man, I've written three novels plus assorted shorter form stories in markdown.
There's a learning curve, but once you get going, it's so fluid. The problem is that when it comes time to format for release, you have to convert to something else, and not every word processor can handle markdown. It's extra work, but worth it, imo.
Publishers are pissy about such things. Even self publishing (which is what I do now), the various outlets still have limits to what they will use. Amazon accepts something like three file formats, including their own, and pdf isn't on the list.
I could just do pdf for directly giving them away to people, but even then, epub is usually a better pick in terms of readability since that's the standard for actual books since ereaders tend to display it better than pdfs. Most people reading books via files would be using something that can give a better experience with epub vs pdf.
I use stealth for a single game sub that doesn't have any alternative worth a damn elsewhere. That's it, but I know damn good and well there's a lot of similar cases out there.
You pronounce it any way other than the way the person saying it does.
This results in a few possible outcomes.
The person may get an opportunity to go on at length about why their pronunciation is used, and be entertaining.
The person may get all het up about it, insisting that you're wrong, and you can further mess with them by shrugging and continuing to use whatever you were using.
The person doesn't care, and y'all have a nice conversation about distros and Linux in general.
The person switches to your pronunciation, and you now have a stalker.
If they hadn't gotten so obnoxious with ads that it was impossible to use YouTube without blocking them, I wouldn't have used the vanced/revanced stuff in the first place.
They find a way to prevent using those, I'm out totally, including on the few devices I didn't care about playing the ads because it was just background noise.
This list is a little old, so some of the links may not work anymore, but overall it's still a pretty solid compendium for any budget concious Linux (or Windows) gamer!...
Well, if you only plan to do one more, this could actually be the penultimate list. But if this is the last one, then the previous one would have been penultimate.
Mind you, I'm 100% okay with using penultimate to mean second best, instead of the actual definition as next to last. It makes sense as a non standard/slang usage, since the last is often the best (depending on the list, of course, but most save the best for last). It's a good play on the way we use ultimate as both final/last as well as best.
One of these days, the dictionaries will catch up to this usage and it'll become a standard usage, so you're getting in on the penultimate use of penultimate as slang, in a way :)
A living language is going to shift. It's inevitable. It's necessary to hold a formal version of a language for important things for sure, but for every day conversation, pedantry is just silly. Not only can we never expect everyone to know every word and every usage of every word, mistakes happen. It's a very human thing to pick up a word and never run across a formal definition for it, and that's okay.
It's easy enough to offer a formal definition if there's a misunderstanding, to get everyone on the same wavelength. But if everyone gets the intended gist, why get all het up? Communication should be fun and engaging, not a battle over semantics and usage.
Well hell, that's just as cool as using a word in a fun way. You looked it up and just got steered wrong by difficult typesetting. My dyslexic ass would have gotten the same impression as you if I had to scan that on my own and come out with a definition.
