Or even just a list of design considerations and tradeoffs tbh

No worries thats cool and a great contribution. (didnt mean to attack your work).

i have only used gluetun in a docker like context so i cant honestly tell you but you can have vpn and non vpn traffic on your system and you just proxy traffic.

also, now i can see the reason for this (work) and why its cool, which was missing in your post. Also knowing your approach helps others point you to ways to improve what youve done. Thanks you!

If youre a terminal user you no longer need to use kitti3 for a dropdown terminal. You can yoink Kitty back and forth a scratch space.

also great post OP

Open source e reader ( lemmy.ml )

I recently got a Sony prs 600 e reader from 2009. The battery is at the end of its life (It lasts about 3 days with heavy reading, and a couple weeks without reading). No backlight, no Wi-Fi, just an SD card that I can load epub files and small PDFs. The screen is slow and the contrast isn't the best. The "touch screen" is the...

what will be my next server operating system (Fedora Server, Fedora CoreOS, NixOS), your experience and opinion

I want to reset my server soon and I'm toying with the idea of using a different operating system. I am currently using Ubuntu Server LTS. However, I have been toying with the idea of using Fedora Server (I use Fedora on my laptop and made good experiences with it) or even Fedora CoreOS. I also recently installed NixOS on my...

Slackware is a great, simple OS that does what it does and does it well. There will be some getting used to, but when it clicks, it makes sense and doesn't do anything you wouldn't expect. It is great if you want to use containers as it provides you with the stable, simple base to run all your containers on top of.

M.2 is a form factor. Under that form factor it can run the NVMe or the SATA protocol.

There are m.2 sata drives. They have a different pin layout and everything. It depends on what you want out of the QoS of your system and what bottlenecks you have.

Yeah thats the problem with hardware raid in general.

This should also include tech used on and on the behalf of tax payers.

slacktoid ,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

Big tech is already getting free code. This would simply fund the devs for the critical infrastructure.
also if we force tax payer code to be GPL code it would force big tech code to also be GPLed. Which would significantly improve the current scenario.

slacktoid ,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

If the public are paying for it, then it becomes a subsidy.

I agree. And its a public good. It should be

And good luck getting the US government to require the code to be GPLed. That’s even less likely to happen than a public subsidy for OSS at all.

true but thats how it should be.

i agree. It's a problem but not doing anything just harms the FOSS ecosystem. We can help foster FOSS ecosystems while trying to cutrail big tech. Cause corporations gonna number line go up.

More of this, please. Have you dealt with any pushback?

slacktoid ,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

Gotcha, that's unfortunate. Fingers crossed, soon, and you'll be able to GPL that shit from the start! I hope you are successful in converting some projects to GPL. I have heard of some people going the other way from GPL to BSD because of their idea of what “freedom” means.

I mean the fact that they are scrambling for funding while being vital infrastructure to them i think is the larger issue. Like at this point i dont care if its new vector or matrix (tho ideally matrix) they shouldn't be begging for money when you supply NATO.
