You ppl dont remner how utterly tedious forums were. We hake karma-based systems nowadays, we cam move on

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Karma+threaded is better than chronologic imo, why do you think it's bad?

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Idk, I wasnt around back then. But most forums I stumble upon have none of that

I am always surprised that even tech-savy ppl I know mostly are completely unaware of torrenting. They all use their streaming websites with tons of popups and ads and complain when they have to find a new one every now and then, I don't get why they just won't torrent even after showing them.

Edit: by streaming sites I mean pirate ones

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

In france neither are enforced afaik

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

You have to find a streaming site that hasnt been subject to a DMCA takedown, where it has what you want to watch in good quality with the correct dubbing and subs, navigate through the popups (I even know some who do so without ublock), change your DNS in most cases because it's been blocked by the ISP DNS (favorite method of blocking in france), and make sure the player actually works.
Where I live you don't really need a vpn for torrenting.
Streaming is far from a "click and go" option. The only advantage I can find for streaming is not requiring disk space.

Sorry I obviously meant pirate streaming sites. Added an edit to the main comment

Finished In stars and time last week, it was wonderful!
Now I need to play Trackmania for a tournament, and I will probably finish Signalis this week.

Helix's autocomplete is too bad for me to be able to like it

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

no, the autocomplete trigger is rly bad and triggers when moving the cursor around instead of when you actually type
It's a documented problem and they are working on fixing it

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I know it's the intended way but I'm too much of a modal noob for that, I'm actually working on a non-modal editor for this reason that's similar to helix and fish philosophies

Fireship often talks about big tech and AI, thats why they have a chapter on it. I dont rly give a damn either but it's interesting to take note of

“By default it displays kanji as Chinese characters” Not quite sure what you mean by that
Edit: my bad, I read the other comment’s link and had not encountered the issue yet. Wish you luck to solve this

Maybe add lf too, I think of it as a better ranger

The finals game doesnt run on linux so i switched back to windows 11.

Linux is all good if you only play singleplayer games. My friends started playing the finals yesterday and it doesn’t run on linux because of EAC. Windows can run all my games without any proton switching and all the nvidia features like ray reconstruction and pathtracing with frame generation just works (alan wake 2 looks so...

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

No… They meant that the way EAC works is configured from the game’s developper end. Just like how you can’t mod your equipment in MMOs because your data is being stored on the game’s server

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I remember seeing that threads was losing users after the first week

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Is it because there aren’t enough good games or because you aren’t hyped by games anymore? For me between CS2 (counter strike AND cities skylines), Battlebit, the Cyberpunk DLC, TOTK… Thats already quite a lot of new good games coming out that I am hyped for

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

And that’s where you realize that them defending decentralization is just trying to have a nice-sounding argument instead of assuming their dreams of getting rich with new tech

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Citing sources is the task of the one putting the argument on the table in the first place

-My kitchen is made out of uranium
-That’s not true
-Do you have a source to back this up?
Doesnt work

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Except tetris is not as stable as you might think
The current ruleset uses vastly different rotation systems than the games in the early days, or Akira’s TGM series.
Moreover, you can add new features without it being pay 2 win (or even paid), like tetr.io does: ranked matches, leaderboards, tournaments, social interaction, etc… They can also make new rules, like how they recently removed passthrough in online matches.

Diablo seasons are just a character reset for those who enjoy them. It’s a huge part of a lot of ARPGs like Path of Exile or Diablo. As you can reach endgame in about 5 hours on diablo and have your complete build in 20, it makes sense.

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Sunk cost fallacy is hard to see happening in a game where each season resets your characters

seliaste , (edited )
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Yes that’s also what I’m talking about
Your previous characters aren’t important anymore, it’s a fresh start all the time. On each new season there has been 0 previous time and effort investment

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I am not quite sure, when starfield released I saw a lot of comparison with cyberpunk 2077. I think a lot of the people who played it really enjoyed the world

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It seems like everyone in my university uses discord for communication which is way more fitting imo, I cant imagine having a single group chat for everything

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Easy but complex, free, short sessions? Sounds like a job for tetr.io

seliaste ,
@seliaste@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I understand! I personally dont suffer too much from this but I get that. I am not very automatic when playing tetris, I am often looking to do T-spins and that kind of stuff so I actively think about the setups I want to build
