Jellyfin is very unreliable with live tv in my experience. It takes ages to reload a playlist and sometimes the old channels still appear in library....
I have run Jellyfin for about 3 years. Plex has a lot of community support and praise so I spun up a test instance. Unfortunately for Jellyfin, Plex is much most reliable for me in pretty much every way. I would love for Jellyfin to keep improving but the switch to Plex just made the media experience so much nicer.
I've started setting up my media server and was wondering if I should put my docker containers with sonarr and radarr behind my VPN the same as my qbit?
You can but you don't need to. All they really do is organise everything. Any requests go through Prowlarr/Jackett which do the API calls then push that to qBit. One could argue you should put Prowlarr behind a VPN as well but it depends on the trackers you have in there.
Microsoft Defender is good and free, but it is heavier on system resources than any reputable AV. Kasperskey is near the top for least impact on system performance.
I use nextcloud cookbook but I would really love another or a federated alternative. It does its job but I don't think other people I know would use it.
Hello fellow self-hosters. I'm currently self-hosting the servarr stack, including jellyseer, radarr/sonarr, prowlarr transmission, and jellyfin. It works great....
Have you tried using Calibre with Readarr? You use Readarr and the request tool then you can tell Readarr to use Calibre to manipulate the library. I find that this does a fantastic job of sorting out all of my ebooks with all their editions and naming conventions.
Prowlarr has listed in its default indexers a domain that reminds me a lof of another domain that closed in the last few years, but it's clearly a revival using the same name and adding an article behind it. I don't want to risk downloading from it but it looks well made and legit and responsive and well kept, basically too good...
That depends on the site. With a seedbox for even just one month (€6, one time), anywhere with freeleech becomes trivial with autobrr and a little bit of setup. I joined IPT not long ago and got over 1TB of buffer within 2 weeks. Music trackers and unforgiving niche are generally the hardest.
Gog-games has returned; if you missed it, they went private for a while, then announced they were coming back in a week. They seem to have come back early.
Not sure why this doesn't exist. I don't need 12TB of storage. When I had a Google account I never even crossed 15GB. 1TB should be plenty for myself and my family. I want to use NVMe since it is quieter and smaller. 2230 drives would be ideal. But I want 1 boot drive and 2 x storage drives in RAID. I guess I could potentially...
NVMe isn't the compactness. That's just the interface that is used. The form factor is M.2. You can get SATA drives in the M.2 form factor as well. So if you do want an small form factor drive, make sure you look at if it is SATA or NVMe and which one your device supports as they are keyed differently.
I use it in two different ways.
If I am using OIDC (e.g. Audiobookshelf), then I will only use Authentik.
If I need to use a proxy outpost and pass those credentials to the server (e.g. Navidrome), then I need to use NPM to do that.
I recently started using Violentmonkey and there are hundreds of absolutely great scripts like some that help you go straight to the download link instead of shorteners (very common on pirate sites), and there are also some scripts for downloading music from Spotify (I guess using Youtube), but I hardly know any more, anyone...
If you still use CreamAPI instead of Koalageddon, you can use the GetDataFromSteam-SteamDB userscript to automatically create CreamAPI.ini files to unlock dlc in your legit steam games.
I'm sure your aware but for people who aren't... Only changing your DNS doesn't hide your traffic, only your DNS query. They can't see you are resolving 1337x.to but they CAN see you access 104.31.16.118. This is why a VPN is important as it stops your ISP from seeing all of your traffic.
It's not possible to 'not upload'. While you are downloading, you are simultaneously uploading. If a rightsholder or copyright troll is monitoring a torrent, they don't care home much you have downloaded or uploaded. If you're in the swarm, that's good enough.
Yeah, that basically it. If you download the torrent, your ip is visible, they don't care if you upload or download. As far as they're concerned, if your IP is there, they'll snatch it and send you a letter.
I'm looking for World of Darkness books, the backup of the trove on reddit is missing a lot of the books so I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find something more complete?
Usenet is the easiest to automate. I can set it and forget it. For DDL, I use two private sites so I know the quality of what I'm getting. Private I need to worry about ratio, but quality will be more controlled than public.
Visits to music piracy websites went up more than 13 percent last year, a new report says. The majority of those visits were to sites that allow users to download the audio from YouTube URLs.
No one will give you one. Music trackers are more difficult than average to get into and harder than most to maintain ratio. I wouldn't risk my account on it.
You can give this script a go though to download from Dezeer or Tidal from Lidarr
In terms of cents per stream, Tidal definitely compansates the most at 4x more than Spotify and 10x more than Deezer. Plus if you VPN to Nigeria on account creation, it's only $4 a month. You can then use tidal-dl to download music and you can use *arr Scripts to download music using Lidarr.
Hi guys! Trying to get Office running on a Mac...How does one get it activated on Mac? On windows it has become so effortless, but I wonder if there's a similar KMS method on Mac?...
There isn't an alternative to it at this time. Although, it's not up to Kemono to keep content updated, it relies on the users for the site to pay for the content and then share it. It's not their fault if the content you want to pirate is missing.
How can I search x1337 probably I'm after Tigole and Silence releases for QXR but each time I search for something I don't get results why? Do you have other alternatives?
I use Radarr and Sonarr for my movies/shows, and Spotify for music, but I do know there's another *arr app for that. The question is, is it worth setting up and how easy is it to discover new/similar music as opposed to Spotify, given that Spotify isn't expensive at all. And how do you fellow crewmen go about it?
Currently I’m using Joplin with Syncthing-backed file system synchronization. I’m pretty pleased with it, as I do like tagging- and Markdown-based systems....
I recently got a Synology NAS and I am trying to setup Emby. I wanna host a media server however, I wanna be able to access the emby location from anywhere and let say my mom access it. Just I wanna keep it secure. Should I use cloudflare?
You’re asking on Lemmy, so you’re going to get a lot of privacy related answers. For usability, Cloudflare tunnels are a super easy and free way to setup and don’t involve your family members having to VPN into your network with Tailscale or Wireguard. This is especially useful if they are streaming from a smart TV or media stick.
Is it the most privacy-friendly? No. You’re giving up a little bit of that for convenience and lower maintenance. IMO for my threat model, it’s worth it.
You can simplify it way down to Kodi + RD and have your own streaming service. This looks more like a hobby though to get every little thing just right.
While there’s nothing particularly wrong with putting everything through a vpn, you could use a qbittorrentvpn docker image which runs a wireguard client with a kill switch which the torrent client can tunnel through.
This is a $1 dollar increase from what I was paying. But soon subscribers will be $15/month, then $20/month. I wonder how much of deezer’s income actually goes to the artists.
The frog in boiling water is actually a complete myth. The frog jumps out when the water is too warm for it, it’s not completely stupid. If the price is ‘too hot’ for you, jump out. Deezer (or any other streaming service) isn’t forcing you to stay subscribed.
ive been using kodi (xbmc was better moniker) since google killed sagetv. i recall attempting plex, but it seemed to lack some open/extensibility (its been awhile)....
Once I used Kodi with real-debrid, I don’t want to go back to streaming torrents. It is much faster and much more reliable.
My setup is a Shield TV Pro using Kodi with the Jellyfin plugin then use Umbrella for anything I don’t have locally. Gave my family a Firestick with Jellyfin and then they can request through Jellyseerr which then feeds through to *arr stack. I don’t mind if I have to fix my end but I don’t want to fix theirs.
