That's actually crazy.... I have had an Instagram since like the start but have no posts on my account. I guess I have a pfp but that's it. I also don't really get on it.

This is probably an unpopular opinion especially on this sub and something that will probably never happen realistically with the way the world is going but it is an extremely cool feature. If this was not done by companys that already harvest data etc and was as private as something like this can be such as your device communication to another device has a uuid that does not tie back to "you" if that makes sense or something not sure. Because there are some use cases that could be extremely good such as the one comment here about stalkers etc.

From Windows to about 6 recommended distros for gaming.

I am not bad with computers and have a beginner+, maybe intermediate level knowledge of Linux and I kept running into some problems here and there with different distros. Most claimed to work out of the box (which may be the case for some users, but I have a shit ass Nvidia 1060 and that was not at all the case, until I...

For me fedora did not handle my 3080 well at all. Switched to mint and only real want is to upgrade Nvidia drivers to the 550 or whatever is the current best one. For me it is not available in the driver settings and not sure how else to get them...

[Solved]-sorta Problems running adguardhome

Edit: So a solution I just found is that if I remove the second DNS from my router (1.1.1.1) then all traffic goes through adguard. This works but if I go on vacation and my parents are still home and this device dies or something then my mom will have no idea what to do......

Blxter OP , (edited )
@Blxter@lemmy.zip avatar

Yes the main dns server for my router is the IP of the computer. adguard works for devices on my tailscale network only

Blxter OP ,
@Blxter@lemmy.zip avatar

not sure what you mean... I tried to follow the bottom of this guide but it looks like I did not append but instead change it.

I believe it is https://www.reddit.com/r/Adguard/comments/nfe86r/is_it_possible_to_reconfigure_listenning/
top of the AdGuardHome.yaml file

Edit: formatting is a little off

Yes every device I have looked at have the first DNS set to the IP of server and then a back up of 1.1.1.1 just in case

Blxter OP ,
@Blxter@lemmy.zip avatar

Yes this was the problem. I had it set up this way originally but added it as a back up in case things broke. I guess I can not do that. Thanks again

Halo infinite on Linux

I have been using Linux to game now mostly for around 1-2 months and halo infinite runs but runs like crap compared to win 11. When I run the game on windows I get 144 fps almost constantly on Linux I get 70-80. I am new to this and not sure what to tweak or change to get it to run better if anything. I play via steam using...

Ok I just installed gamemode and made sure it was running and passed all tests. Do you enter the game name where %command% is? so for Halo Infinite it is gamemoderun Halo Infinite ?
Sorry if this is a dumb question but game wont open now lol

But thanks for help with command it works for other games.

Edit: have no idea It seems whenever I change whatever compatibility I use it breaks after a fresh install. I have reinstalled the game 3 times now boots first time but as soon as I change anything in breaks and brings that image back even if I revert back to what was there...

Its crazy I go from like 144 all the time on windows and then a really bad 70 (with worst settings on) on linux no idea why.

I have a 3080: NVIDIA Driver Version:535.161.07

Blxter OP ,
@Blxter@lemmy.zip avatar

How does one upgrade drivers if they are not in the driver manager (this is what I have used so far)
https://lemmy.zip/pictrs/image/9ad4aada-1ed8-459a-b904-af3ffff11b5f.webp

I found this should I do this but with 550?

As mentioned above, usually, it is preferred to try installing the recommended driver. In order to do that, you just type in: sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall
If you want something specific, type in: sudo apt install nvidia-driver-450
You just have to replace “450” with the driver version that you want and it will install the driver in the same way that you install an application via the terminal.

[SOLVED] File size to large qbittorrent v4.6.3 docker compose

I have been trying to set up everything over on docker and have came across an issue where large file sizes (4K tv episodes etc) fail to download at all where 1080 (small sizes around 1 gb download just fine to same location)....

Blxter OP ,
@Blxter@lemmy.zip avatar

Ah I guess you are right I was saving everything to an internal 500 gb drive in the laptop and then transferring over to a raid but if I just download said files to the raid they seem to be going fine. Guess I should wipe that internal drive and try to make it compatible.

Also is it a problem that my os (Ubuntu server) appears to be on the same fat 32 format?

Is there a way to stop and rename a mounted external drive (DAS set to raid5) so it does not change names every restart linux ubuntu

As title says I have a direct attached storage attached to a Linux machine (that used to be windows). Said raid system started as being called ./Raid and is now after 2 restarts of of the lap top it is now ./Raid2. Is there a way to make it not change names every time I do a restart. I did some looking online but don't want...

Hey so I know this is really old but I have been running my adguard home on a raspi for a while now but am trying to move it over to run with everthing else. The only problem is that whenever I set the "DNSStubListener=no" it breaks all the API things for homepage and overseerr/tautuli etc do you know of a way to fix?
