Nearly one-in-five tweets are no longer publicly visible on the site just months after being posted. In 60% of these cases, the account that originally posted the tweet was made private, suspended or deleted entirely. In the other 40%, the account holder deleted the individual tweet, but the account itself still existed.

I know they were already in the process of the 501c but that's really gotta come as a bummer.

They'll lose a lot of donors in the EU if they can't keep that non-profit status.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

these days i think the only reason people want open source is to air the dirty laundry of software development

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

that’s cool, ill never buy silicon tips again tho. why is apple the only one making real ear buds?

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

yah, luckily airpods 1:1 clones are like $20.

i have downvotes completely hidden so i wouldn't have noticed.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

the vast majority of projects are single developer.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

And no one will use it because mobile apps can’t upload.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

donno, i spent about 6 months looking for a federated video service i could host. all of them had issues with mobile uploads on iOS and Android.

Dansup has never published an app so i doubt they’re going to solve the problem no one else has.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

can those apps upload video?

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

i dont see the option to share a video to pixelfed on iOS.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

omg so cool right? they finally invented usernames. IRC is jealous.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

From my brief interactions with the dev I believe they're doing things the very hard way when it comes to indexing.

It might be the only choice once AI poisoning becomes prolific. It's already corrupted the niche topics and soon it may overwhelm the topics with more human eyes on it.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

lmk when they bother to federate.

otherwise it’s just a worse twitter.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

joplin has allowed me to be a lot more flexible with managing and viewing my sheet music.

i converted my notes pretty easily and now i have access to them on all my devices.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

I mainly use joplin for tables. it can't do equations but for set lists and repertoire it's much easier to use than anything else i've tried.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

meanwhile apple already did it without even asking.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

it’s weird that android and ios already provide this but THE container standard doesn’t

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

man, i just want to see what the people i follow posted.

i dont even need to pay extra to get that on the fedi.

GrapheneOS is such a staple for me now. ( lemmy.world )

GrapheneOS is such a staple for me now. Been waiting for it to be released for the Pixel 8 since I got the phone at launch… it doesn’t have the annoying search bar or the unmovable widget telling you the weather… Regardless of the security and privacy it offers… And its just pretty.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

I know Android plans on fixing this but it’s wild that FIOD2 functionality requires Google Play services.

Have you used KISS launcher? I run that on Android when I can’t get GrapheneOS on it.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

ah well it’s worth the effort of installing fdroid anyways.

The green man is a reference to ancient folk lore.

I think they were removed from the show as superfluous.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

Rosamund Pike is carrying this show.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

Ishamael in the show is a combination of two or three characters.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

who did Rand defeat at the end of Eye of the World.

it wasn’t Ishmael.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

I have a green man costume for all occasions but even I’ll admit they aren’t relevant to the tv series.

now tom bombidil, I’ll never forgive Jackson.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

A fine brief on mastodon but it hardly "rewound" anything.

The fedi had been around long before mastodon and even facebook.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

im sorry you forgot about the rest of the internet.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

correct

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

im genuinely not ok.

the fediverse is worse now than it was a year ago.

Why the Steam deb from Canonical has been broken since 23.04 ( popey.com )

tl;dr In a recent thread on Mastodon, it was revealed that Ubuntu 23.04 users can’t install the Steam deb package from the Ubuntu archive without jumping through some technical hoops. It turns out this was a mistake, a bug was filed, and future builds shouldn’t have this problem....

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

installing i386 packages on an x86_64 install has always been more annoying than it should be.

they removed the number or ratings.

I know most of the high counts are bots but 5 star means a lot of things based on the count of ratings.

Have you ever tried an open source dating app?

I recall hearing about Alovoa a year ago and while it sounds nice with no ads or paid features, being open source, and private data being encrypted I have to imagine the userbase is incredibly small relative to other services. Google Play lists it at over a thousand downloads but it’s also available through F-Droid so that may...

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

I’d settle for an open source friend app but I doubt it would be better than bumble for friends.

you get the same issue anywhere, no one is serious about meeting up in person.

I have enough online friends.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

Friendica didn’t use activitypub until it was too late which might explain the lack of popularity.

Bumble for friends is a separate service from bumble.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

bro, come back to me when most stores accept touch emv payments. lol, like each fucking store is gonna know what to do with a fucking palm scan when emv is fucking forbidden magic.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

I live in DC and most groceries don't support it.

Whole Foods wants to use some qr code thing, probably precursor to the palm.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

KISS launcher is the easiest way to avoid Google search.

TrackerControl is the easiest way to just disconnect an app from the internet.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

it’s so simple yet so effective.

bonus, I can set the default search engine away from useless Google.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

what’s the org name for Thunder? Searching thunder or lemmy doesn’t get results, search is pretty shit.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

thank you

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

what IP is the service listening on? is that port exposed?

0.0.0.0 for all incoming.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

link the dockerfile

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

the people that install fedora on their home computers are already power users.

make this proposition to RTM or volume vendors, not the people that went out of their way to choose your product.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

Because I can’t dismiss the Firefox update notification, no matter how many times I update it.

I’ve had to reboot every time.

Which, way to go you’ve reimplemented windows xp era updates.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

yes, I did kill the process and update the image though snap.

this did nothing to remove the update notification that cannot be dismissed without rebooting.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

maybe they fixed it, I switched to Debian over a year ago.
