So I have been a part of this community for a while and it seems pretty quiet. I know Lemmy is not as big as Reddit so this community will always be much smaller but I kind of miss the activity on r/sysadmin. Infinity for Reddit still works for view only so I have been scrolling though posts on Reddit as some of the stories and...
I'm looking to make links stand out by any means. I find myself always opening them and having something like YouTube or other video services open and start playing while in places where that's not ideal.
This noob is testing the interconnectivity of the #Fediverse, with the AP (Mastodon, etc.) and AT (Bluesky) Protocol protocols, and also starting to test #Nostr this week....
Hey dude. What's up? I found out that gerald has a tumor in his ass, Can you call him? Please and go to the hospital and check on him. I have to work a double shift tonight
A lot of people have talked about the possibility of forking Mastodon to get the many improvements their communities need. Making such an effort successful is another discussion entirely.
I've explored a few platforms within the Fediverse, but most of them seem to be inspired by and mimic existing mainstream social media platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook. Ghost is a huge publishing platform, and a sizeable rival to Substack. By adopting ActivityPub, they are opening up to an entirely new audience, and harnessing the power of the Fediverse.
I dunno how many here have given it a try yet, or simply don't ever intend to but are nevertheless a little curious, so I'm putting down some notes here....
I realise this is a known issue and that lemmy.world isn't the only instance that does this. Also, I'm aware that there are other things affecting federation. But I'm seeing some things not federate, and can't help thinking that things would be going smoother if all the output from the biggest lemmy instance wasn't 50% spam....
I've been playing around with the self hosted apps for quite a while and I got to the point where I'm happy about my local setup. Next step is to setup reliable offsite backup. I'm using borgbackup as a tool to manage my backups (so far only local backups). I've been looking for an affordable yet reliable service to store my...
They removed the post about how Hilary's campaign supported Trump and made up a rule on the spot about not being recent. The first rule they noted as an excuse states:...
