Hey all. I'm having this issue where a bunch of content replies disappear on me. Or, rather, they are in my inbox, but when I click them to go reply and vote on them in the comments of the post where they are, they are completely missing from the thread/conversation. So to make it clear, they never disappear from my inbox, but...
Honestly though lol, taking your phone into the shower has to be a new level from my perspective. I bring it almost everywhere in my pocket, even on the toilet as most do. But I've never felt the need to bring it into the shower. Am I the odd one? I feel like there's gotta be a limit to my addiction... 10 minutes while I'm cleaning myself should be a good break lol.
I'm using EndeavourOS with ext4 file system for daily usage and a dual bootable Windows for gaming. What I want to have right now is getting rid of Windows completely....
StartOS facilitates the entire process of discovering, installing, configuring, and using any variety of open-source software from anywhere in the world without trusting anyone.
Well that's scary. Luckily I live nowhere near that part of the world.
But even if I have a server, I'll have to have my own separate Internet if I really want to be able to pay unrestrictedly. Otherwise the government would just shut down my internet connection, right?
What I mean by separate Internet is a connection to other computers so I can make payments, where said connection isn't able to be controlled by the government.
😄 Nice! I never use Nano, and thought it was a pretty cemented piece of software in the sense that nothing will ever change about it. Like vi or ed or something. But this is fun to see. 👍
Security researchers have discovered a new Android banking trojan they named Brokewell that can capture every event on the device, from touches and information displayed to text input and the applications the user launches.
Most of the people I know that aren't tech savvy are at least smart enough to be aware of that fact, so they would already hesitate at 2. The real dangerous people are the confident ignoramuses.
Given all of that, I'd say it's a good thing to get active and accuse these big environmental crooks, while at the same time being perfect examples of how to minimize our own footprint. Nobody will listen to accusations from someone who isn't perfectly innocent themselves.
Was very excited about this but turns out I can only use DuckDuckGo app, not DuckDuckGo in Firefox. I'm afraid this feature won't really be usable for me since I rely on FF add-ons and synchronization.
I was also excited about this. When I first opened my phone after the update and went to the settings to choose a search provider, it had all these options listed, like at least 5? So I pick DDG just to test it, because that's what I use everywhere else. So it picks that, but then removes all other options except DDG (enabled) and Google. WTF? Where are my other options that were just there? How do I bring them back, or add more? Do I have to install apps that register themselves as search providers? I'd really just like to search using Firefox if I can.
I figured that's what I had to do, but why were there tons of options before that I didn't have installed, and then once I picked one, it removed them? How can I find a list of supported search providers? Like, I want to explore my options.

I was always on Linux since Varsity but two years ago when I bought a gaming Laptop, it had Windows 11 on and worked great. I thought I would give it a chance and it was great especially for gaming. Your English is fine. Sentences may be a tad long, and of course an article this size would need a proofread before posting. That's normal.
Very interesting article, at least in the beginning. I didn't get very far but I was intrigued from the start. I like how you framed it all the way you did. Well done. 🙂👍
Hi, I've been thinking for a few days whether I should learn Docker or Podman. I know that Podman is more FOSS and I like it more in theory, but maybe it's better to start with docker, for which there is a lot more tutorials. On the other hand, maybe it's better to straight up learn podman when I don't know any of the two and...
Not sure why all the down votes without any explanation.
I too don't use docker for my services. I run Plex on my Arch install via the provided AUR package. 🤷♂️ Nobody told me I needed to do otherwise, with docker or anything else. Not sure why that would be better in any way. It could hardly be more performant? And it's as simple as enabling the service and forgetting about it.
People love to hate on people who don't care for containers.
Maybe so. 😕
what it means to run code on bare metal
I'm guessing it means something slightly different than what most people think, namely to just run it in the OS. Would you explain to me what it really means?
Pretty good points. I especially like the no-root and isolation aspects, as well as the reproducibility aspect.
But I don't have enough services to warrant learning docker at a deeper level yet, and they aren't exposed on the internet yet either. Just local services so far. But all of those points are good to consider. Thanks for replying, friend! 🤝
Can confirm, have this file. Can confirm, will not learn unit files because I don't know enough to know the provided one is not sufficient, because the wiki has no such mention. You are spot on.
There it is, got it now. Looks great, although it's hard to differentiate whether the tick is green or not when using it in bedtime mode (when the screen is monochromatic/grayscale). Maybe another icon could help. Same goes for a lot of other actions which rely solely on color, like upvotes and such. Just to mention. 😊 Boost does this cleverly by using an outlined arrow for up votes before clicking, and a filled-in arrow after up voting. It's very clear. 🙂
