My cat licks its nose when he wants to eat.

'where's the food human? I am going to sit here in front of you, do a stare contest and shlorp shlorp my nose…'

We have people with Malamutes more than half a kilometer away. I only learned what Malamutes where after I asked my wife wtf that noise was all the time...they are not mutes at all.

kindenough ,
@kindenough@kbin.social avatar

Off course, that's just the way it is. The cat living with us always needs the snuggles.

How old is your cat if I may ask?

You are a kind person taking her in and taking care, she made a good choice staying. She looks somewhat older to me (10+) looking at her face. Ours is 17 now, kind to everyone and still in reasonable health, limbs are getting a bit stiff though.

One Login: Towards a Single Fediverse Identity on ActivityPub ( thenewstack.io )

In response to Bray’s toot, Evan Prodromou — one of the creators of ActivityPub, who is currently writing an O’Reilly book about the protocol — noted that this “is also the argument for using the ActivityPub API.” He described the API as “an open, extensible API that can handle any kind of activity type — not...

Some good references too, like that poster on the wall in episode 5, 'a man and his dog ',

Todd produced something that’s actually good‽
Probably a mandatory credit thing, he is too busy fixing Starfield

Like Coper said, Stremio, (realdebrid, torrentio) is the way to go and should work on your firestick

Real debrid is dirt cheap and you get loyalty points. 1000 points is a month extra.

Imma tired of this shit!

Is there any reason you want to have two DNS servers? I would just disable the dhcp in the ISP router and let the pihole do the dhcp serving. This way your network is ad free as it get's the pihole DNS by default. You then could set any device to the ISP router DNS manually. Just saves a lot of hassle, space, electricity and headaches when something goes wrong.

You are going to be trapped in a room for 12 hours with a mid 2000s office desktop with no internet connection and an external hard drive; what are you putting on the hard drive?

I've got some DOOM WADs I have been meaning to play so I would probably grab Trench Foot, Total Chaos, and the sequel to Ashes 2063, Ashes: Afterglow with a portable install of GZDoom to play them....

Max Payne 1 and 2, F.E.A.R, Far Cry, MAME with a couple of arcade roms like Galaga, Tetris, Pang, Puzzle Bobble, Metal Slug.

And if I get bored with those there is always Microsoft solitair, mine sweeper and mayong to fall asleep on the keyboard.

A raspberry pi with pihole running as dhcp server. In the ISP router turn off DHCP, DNS problem solved as pi will advertise its DNS to all connected devices on the network.

My iPad2 can’t do internet anymore, or for instance used as a panel for home assistant webpage or client, but it’s perfectly fine as a homestudio controller and music / midi generator and that is what I still use it for. Battery is still great too. I got it about 13 years ago and I will be using it until it stops working. Looks as good as new too.

I do have a recent iPad too, it's for all the stuff I cannot do on the old one.

One can just click the reader view/mode button if you're on Firefox and bypass paywalls and popups. Doesn't work on all sites but works on this one.

Same here in the Netherlands. All the people I know with an iPhone use Whatsapp. I only use the standard app to read incoming SMS.

My Nest Hub 2gen is just an expensive clock now, and it isn't even working well at that.
It used to control all my home automation. Now it's a lot of "sorry, I don't understand" clock.

And wasn't it the producer who did the cranking uppa? She just gave the thumbs up. She didn't even write a single note on that track.

Yeah my Recycle Lite software from then when they were called Propellerhead stopped working too as the key didn't activate anymore. Now I know why. They really don't give a fuck for a long time already.

Players who don't like survival games as a genre: Which survival games are your personal exceptions, which ones have you enjoyed nonetheless and why?

Personally, I really don’t like most of these games due to the tedium and frustration that comes with hunger/thirst mechanics. Most of the exceptions that I do actually like either make up for it through something else that elevates the experience enough - or they either don’t have these mechanics or allow for players to...

The Long Dark for me. No zombies, kannibals or other horror elements. Just surviving nature, wild animals and the cold on a Canadian island. I play a new playthrough when it gets cold outside every winter. I might pick up the DLC this time.

I got a lot of games with AMD hardware or other give aways, games I normally would not buy anyway. Imo Forspoken, Starfield, Redfall, Dead Island 2, Callisto protocol, AC Mirage and Harry Potter I did not like.

Glad there have been a lot of games I did enjoy recently, Dave the Diver, my time at Sandrock, Thalos Principle 2, Stray. I did like AAA Jedi Survivor although some technical glitches occurred.

My Samsung s9+ with Evolver Android 13 custom rom (and duo sim) is still a very good phone. Amoled screen, good camera and battery life still over a day when setting the brightness not too high. Not a scratch on it too. I don't use it daily though as it is a very big phone, but I take it when going out or on holiday because the camera on my iPhone SE is crap and as you mention for gaming.

I have been repairing tons of these phones here in the Netherlands and it is just a very solid phone that is very easy to repair. The s10 for instance comes with a single board instead of sub and mainboard like the s8 and s9 series, so when something is wrong with a USB, like not charging or connecting to PC or the mic doesn't work the board get's scrapped for usable components and these components come back on refurfed boards that we get back from Samsung (those are often a pain in the ass prone to not pass the quality checks after repair).

I still use an iPad 2 for making music and as MIDI controller for the Home Studio, I just dislike to throw away perfectly good hardware, as is my s9+

Thanks for posting.

Sony is going to remove certain purchased titles from user libraries ( www.playstation.com )

As always, the paying user has the worst experience. “Purchase” a show, can only watch on a certain console of a certain brand, no transfers, no backups, then it suddenly disappears from the library and nothing can be done....

How is the piracy experience on an iPad ?

So I am planning on buying an ipad, never owned one before. I have always been an android guy and from what I have heard Ipad os or ios is pretty restrictive in nature so I was wondering how much does it hamper the piracy experience. For example on android I can torrent files of any nature or size without any restrictions and...

Stremio, Realdebrid and Infuse is what I use for streaming movies and series on our iPad and Apple TV's. I mostly use the iPad though for making music, or as a controller for my home studio with very low latency. I like the cleaner UI and no ads.

I guess though for what you want the Android experience is better suited, even watching torrents on Apple is jumping through hoops although it works solid after configuration. My son uses an iPad since a few weeks and was surprised how useful it is, using PC, Google TV and Android phone.

I disabled DHCP on the ISP router and my rsspberry pi with Pihole is the DHCP server now, serving it's own IP address as DNS for all devices.

No it won't.

My sister was angered when I quit whatsapp (and facebook), asking me reasons why and if it was because I didn't like her. Told her I like my privacy. Haven't heard of her and a lot of other family since who only like to communicate through social media. Good.

I like SMS and Signal, only people that care for me are using that because I asked them to.

Pirated the game before I bought it. I have 350 hrs in TLD on Steam but I surely played double that time. To me it's the perfect survival game. No cannibals, zombies et cetera, just the cold wilderness. I'll get the DLC when next winter kicks in.

What is you backup tool of choice?

I don’t mean system files, but your personal and work files. I have been using Mint for a few years, I use Timeshift for system backups, but archived my personal files by hand. This got me curious to see what other people use. When you daily drive Linux what are your preferred tools to keep backups? I have thousands of...

Truenas on a inexpensive server with RAID. I have several computers in different rooms in the house I like to make music on, and on these pc's my network drives all have the same drive letters for the sample libraries, recordings, projects, and backup. So my projects can run from any computer without missing files. I always save locally and on the Truenas.
