EDIT: It actually is

Yup. I cropped the QR code and checked it with an online reader, and it’s literally signal.org

    What does start.sh look like?

    Do you have a firewall running on the host system?

    If you run the container directly from start.sh, do you get different results?

    When the container is running, can you tell if something is listening on 8081? ss -tulpn | grep 8081 should show it.

    Better to just wipe out Windows entirely and be done with it.

    @NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world avatar

    That’s a nice generalization and all, but mostly just a lackluster cop-out that I’ve heard a million times. It’s not like windows is some high and mighty operating system which is the only thing capable of running some software because it’s so awesome. Linux is really good at a lot of things like gaming, security, data analytics, and continues to get better. Lots of money was put into developing windows and making it usable for most people. If more money was put towards the development of Linux for the purpose of <insert your generalized cop-out argument>, you’d have one less thing to bitch about.

    Which games? Have you tried proton? Lutris?

    People like you are lucky things like windows exist because otherwise technology would be totally inaccessible to you, and you’d be banging two rocks together in a cave somewhere.

    Have you tried the things I suggested? You sure do whine a lot. Speaking of Wine, have you tried it?

    NegativeLookBehind ,
    @NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world avatar

    “I’ve never tried to play games on Linux but I’ve determined that they don’t work and never will, so therefore Linux sucks and windows is the only answer”

    Got it.

    If they’re containerized they’ll run in a Kubernetes cluster, I’m sure you know this. Why not build the K8s infrastructure you need to get them functional? Or maybe Helm charts if you’re up for it.

    I notice it unmounts a lot of other things

    Are you serious or

    NegativeLookBehind ,
    @NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world avatar

    Using the -a option will unmount everything in /etc/mtab. You should usually be specific about what you’re unmounting. Check the umount man page for details about its options.

    install

    At least, I think this will do it. I haven’t used it in a while.

    I am not bad with computers and have a beginner+, maybe intermediate level knowledge of Linux and I kept running into some problems here and there with different distros. Most claimed to work out of the box (which may be the case for some users, but I have a shit ass Nvidia 1060 and that was not at all the case, until I...

    I daily drive it just fine and I don’t really think your opinion is well informed. It sounds like you had trouble with some part of it and now you’ve written it off completely. But the numbers don’t lie- it’s a very popular distro and very stable.

    Dude it’s a very minor change to grub to get it to run systemd by default. You’re just complaining for the sake of complaining

    I recently found this on Reddit while looking into why jellyfin is effected so much by latency. I found that this worked and thought I would share it because it is generally applicable, takes five minutes to setup, and helps a lot with bandwidth on higher latency connections. I admit I am not sure of the technical stuff behind...

    It’s worth noting that SE Linux takes considerable knowledge to administer correctly in many scenarios, and can lead to some strange problems if you don’t know what you’re doing. Definitely worth learning about, though.

    Wow dude. A little personal, don’t you think?

    Planning on moving over from Windows 10 to Linux for my Personal Work Station. Can't decide which OS I should switch to.

    Windows has been a thorn in my side for years. But ever since I started moved to Linux on my Laptop and swapping my professional software to a cross platform alternative, I've been dreaming on removing it from my SSD....

    NegativeLookBehind ,

    It does use systemd, just not by default. One small change to GRUB and it’s done.

    Also, it’s literally the most popular distro on Distrowatch, so I don’t know what you mean by obscure. More popular than Mint, even.
