New Anti-Consumer MacBook Pros - Teardown And Repair Assessment - Apple Silicon M1/M2 ( youtu.be )

No surprises here. Just like the lockdown on iPhone screen and part replacements, Macbooks suffer from the same Apple’s anti-repair and anti-consumer bullshit. Battery glued, ssd soldered in and can’t even swap parts with other official parts. 6000$ laptop and you don’t even own it.

State of gaming on linux?

I used linux in the past, both privately and work-related, but the last time was over 10 years ago, so I’m a bit out of touch. I am in need of a new PC, but it’ll be a good year before I have the funds, so for now I am making due with an i5 7500 and a gtx 1660. I do have 32 GB so there’s that. I finally feel confident...

Endeavour is the current main Arch based distro. Otherwise go for Fedora or Opensuse TW. Both are leading edge.

This is through summer and universities break. Its fair to expect a higher increase through the last Quarter of the year and probably surpassing ChromeOS with 3.24%

Mainly non tech university students. I remember seeing most of the baristas humanities and business students using them. Mainly to look trendy and also they have crazy battery life.

Kaped OP ,

Youve been living under a rock? Gaming on Linux is big now. Look up steam/proton.

Seems to be truly be gaining momentum and solidifying its status though. Linux 30 years, 20 years, 10 years, even 5 years ago is not even comparable its current state.

Kaped OP ,

From what I read its ~ 5% for this to happen and companies taking Linux seriously.

Kaped OP ,

Gnome 45 and Plasma 6 are coming by the end of the year. Add that Wine/Proton further development to bring in even more games. It’ll all increase Linux user experience even further to what Windows is offering right now.

Kaped OP ,

Norway is the first world of the Scandinavians. Im not suprised

Kaped OP ,

Id install Mint/Ubuntu on that family computer. Kids wont see much difference and everything works out of the box nowadays in Linux.

Kaped OP ,

All Chromebooks come with it. They are cheap for students

Lets all be honest and civilized here. Its complete shit

According to these new numbers from Valve, the Linux customer base is up to 1.96%, or a 0.52% jump over June! That’s a huge jump with normally just moving 0.1% or so in either direction most months… It’s also near an all-time high on a percentage basis going back to the early days of Steam on Linux when it had around a 2%...
