The Raspberry Pi 5 might be good enough for your needs. The 8GB costs a bit less than 100€ without any accessories at the danish reseller, so it fits in your budget. I don't know if it's good enough for all your services.

are shotcut and kdenlive any good video editors? just curious

i thought this question could fit here as this is a community about open source software after all, anyways… i was gonna do editing for the first time and wanted to use something that’s free and open source, i was considering either shotcut or kdenlive but i wanted to at least hear the community’s opinion about it, i’ll...

To my knowledge Kdenlive is generally regarded as one of the best video editors. Iirc one of the few things said to be holding it back from being the best on Linux was bad/no hardware accelleration or something like that.

Oooh, I didn't recognize that as a browser.

Pirated video games SOURCE CODE

So there are multiple sites&groups that pirate video games especially on PC. I was wondering if there are places on the internet where you find source code for games especially the highly modifiable ones like Half Life 2/Portal and Skyrim. Or groups that crack into the source code of games (or even software in general), not only...

[Solved] Help with PollyMc

I have been trying to use PollyMc but I can’t really figure it out. So I launched minecraft after adding an offline account but it doesn’t seem to work after closing the launcher and opening minecraft again. If I have internet it starts to download some library files again and then it does launch minecraft. Do I have to...

Privacy is not just an illusion; it’s a delusion.

Things like privacy statements and permission to use cookies are little more than sophisticated propaganda. If you think for a moment the Overlords cannot prepare a dossier on you within minutes that would make your mother faint and your father die of shame, you’re living in fantasy land. You have no idea how much data they...

It's funny how google pretends the music on YouTube isn't straight up piracy and everyone just goes along with it

Most people have extremely weird ideas of what’s considered piracy and what isn’t. Downloading a video game rom is piracy, but if you pay money to some Chinese retailer for an SD card containing the roms, that’s somehow not piracy. Exploiting the free trial on a streaming site by using prepaid visa cards is somehow not...

Updated my Gentoo guide to Sailing the High Seas ( www.paneburroezucchero.info )

Well, i decided to brush up my simple HTML page and created a fully linked wiki on the subject. Please take a look, in the hope it will be useful for at least one fellow one-eyed leg-pegged passionate data hoarder....

Why specifically Gentoo? Alpine looks more like the tool for this job.

How did you get the top panel fully transparent?

    backhdlp ,

That does sound almost kinda dope because that’s a lot of developers who could make Windows suck a lot less

My current solution to prevent getting a virus is to:

    1. Go to archlinux.org
    2. Download the ISO and follow the install instructions
    3. Check suspicious-looking files on virustotal

Takes a few hours to initially set everything up, but has the added benefit of not using a shit operating system.

“I use Linux as my operating system,” I state proudly to the unkempt, bearded man. He swivels around in his desk chair with a devilish gleam in his eyes, ready to mansplain with extreme precision. “Actually”, he says with a grin, "Linux is just the kernel. You use GNU+Linux!’ I don’t miss a beat and reply with a smirk, "I use Alpine, a distro that doesn’t include the GNU coreutils, or any other GNU code. It’s Linux, but it’s not GNU+Linux.

The smile quickly drops from the man’s face. His body begins convulsing and he foams at the mouth and drops to the floor with a sickly thud. As he writhes around he screams “I-IT WAS COMPILED WITH GCC! THAT MEANS IT’S STILL GNU!” Coolly, I reply “If windows was compiled With gcc, would that make it GNU?” I interrupt his response with “-and work is being made on the kernel to make it more compiler-agnostic. Even you were correct, you wont be for long.”

With a sickly wheeze, the last of the man’s life is ejected from his body. He lies on the floor, cold and limp. I’ve womansplained him to death.

I usually get it from the YouTube algorithm, but I’ll also check up on some labels every now and then and see what they got new. I also follow some individual artists.

what youtube is doing is a slow easing of removing adblockers rather than an immediate one

if they outright forced us to stop day one there’d be outrage, so they instead ease us in. first a popup, then a timed popup, slowly leading to their actual goal but without the risk of an initial outrage. i know this is an extreme comparison but we’re like lambs to a slaughter

    backhdlp ,
    @backhdlp@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I would call it pretty fast, I got the popup for the first time less than a month ago and I already rely on the magic uBlock does to even be able to watch YouTube.

But at step 4, wl.ko does indeed exist lol

    1. (Optional) Check all the built DKMS kernel modules. There should be “wl.ko” in the list.

Pretty sure that’s how it’s supposed to be, especially since you just installed it in step 2. I don’t see your problem here.

    First of all: manjarno.pages.dev

    1. HDR controls. Nothing in the display settings so I’m lost

    HDR is still WIP.

    1. Alternative Software I haven’t spent a lot of time looking but things like wallpaper engine, rainmeter, powertoys.

Wallpaper Engine: Not a perfect replacement, but you can set a gif as a Wallpaper in Plasma. If that isn’t enough, there are alternatives (I don’t know what they can do).

Rainmeter: Also not a perfect replacement, but Plasma Widgets should at least provide the functionality.

PowerToys: Always on Top, Awake, Color Picker, & Run already have equivalent features in Plasma. File Explorer add-ons, File Locksmith, Hosts file editor, & Registry Preview aren’t needed because Linux. The others have replacements on a case-by-case basis, check the “Get More (whatever)” in the settings of relevant KDE apps.

    backhdlp ,
    @backhdlp@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

The swiping thing is apparently a deliberate decision by KDE for whatever reason.
