Pixel and GOS , very easy to install. Warranty blaha.
Oneplus usually have a lot of lineage support.
Spend and afternoon on YouTube , XDA forum and learn.

All of your brand's listed are bloated. Samsung is really bad though.

LoveSausage OP , (edited )

Actually no , Romanian cards are non KYC , one of the few countries left in Europe. I'm in another but can live with a foreign number

LoveSausage OP ,

Here I have to go to an office show passport , green card and sign paperwork . To get any simcard.

LoveSausage OP , (edited )

Yea I'm looking in do network monitoring when first connecting the phone. Will need root it seems. But since I will install GOS and reset it afterwards it would probably be my best bet for verifying no bad connections . Long time since I used wireshark but should be possible.

LoveSausage OP , (edited )

Thanks :) start selling on ebay seems to be a good business :)

LoveSausage OP ,

Nope Spain has a green one

LoveSausage OP ,

Stealth.net sounds promising for topping up the card. Just USD Any other options for EUR cards?

LoveSausage OP ,

Yea out of stock and lack of info though

LoveSausage OP , (edited )

Thanks. yea simXL seems not like bad option , will check the esim statuson GOS nowadays. :( Seems the E- Sims have a 30 day limit...

LoveSausage OP ,

Damn that do looks interesting. Ty

LoveSausage , (edited )

None worked in my EU country, edit cake pay does seem to work

LoveSausage , (edited )

I had a need for one piece of corporate windows program once. Installed Windows AME , only way to really get rid of all crap. All the debloating software and scripts get easily reversed by windows otherwise.

Why is graphene os only available on google pixels?

I want to mainly use it for privacy over its "security". I don't know what makes everyone fine with running it on fucking google pixels. Is there some kind of "low security" version or something for other phones? I'm so tired of certain organizations infiltrating privacy communities and making people believe in improving...

LoveSausage ,

With your own key? Nope

https://lr.burger.rodeo/r/LineageOS/comments/n7yo7u/a_discussion_about_bootloader_lockingunlocking/gxiz8at/?context=3
Basically relocking without your own key is a bit pointless. But yes stand corrected that you can use your own key , it will just be a headache to do it. And generally about the pixel it's all about the titan chip. That makes it stand out. https://www.androidauthority.com/titan-m2-google-3261547/

Signal with fake number. https://sms-man.com/?ref=qPLi0ekHzn_c is a good option , yea I added the referral link, remove last part if you wish. Or use a spare number , or wait until usernames are available , or matrix nexttalk and so on as already mentioned

LoveSausage ,

Lol. I can get a fake phone number or create a Gmail without any phone number blind drunk.

LoveSausage , (edited )

Use a public net /local coffee shop. Or one of the options above. Also No issue running stealth mode VPN ..

LoveSausage , (edited )

Well a few ways . Create it on a pixelphone running GOS thru the sandboxed playstore . I also believe it works on any phone running below android 5.

Get a fake number. Plenty of options on Google I use a paid service using Monero. Worth it , cost like 3 euro for a few hours, or a few cents for a one-time SMS.

LoveSausage ,

Then get a fake number

LoveSausage ,

You don't need a sim to get a verification code. Here is a service I use https://sms-man.com/?ref=qPLi0ekHzn_c but plenty of free ones if you got the time to test 20 non working numbers to find one that works. Just Google temporary SMS or recieve SMS online

LoveSausage ,

Well sms-man works fine

LoveSausage ,

Same recommendation as usual from me :) pepparmint OS , Debian base extra on top

What’s your data really worth? ( proton.me )

There’s a saying that data is the new oil(new window) because of how valuable it is to the digital economy. But what’s the value of your data, personally? Depending where you live, information about you could be worth at least several hundred dollars a year to Facebook and Google alone....

LoveSausage ,

I sell some info by using a cashback app. Since my purchase habits are swooped up anyhow

LoveSausage ,

You need GOS for this, the function is called scopes combined with true separated user accounts. The shitty apps just get what I allow them.

Use work laptop as personal device by dual booting on a separate internal drive?

I currently have a Dell laptop that runs Windows for work. I use an external SSD via the Thunderbolt port to boot Linux allowing me to use the laptop as a personal device on a completely separate drive. All I have to do is F12 at boot, then select boot from USB drive....

LoveSausage ,

Damn my laptop has secure boot and extra on top , I believe the usb ports are physically disabled.

I assume everything is watched on what I'm doing. Can't remember the wording but i can't do shit without getting in a heap of trouble.

Browser add-ons are like a 2 week process to get approved

LoveSausage ,

https://www.f-droid.org/en/packages/com.github.olga_yakovleva.rhvoice.android/ I use it for organic maps in the car which is fine. not sure how it does otherwise. No Swedish yet at least

How to get a private car

Hello internet users. Someone in my family is looking to buy a car and wanted some recommendations for a private one. They are looking to buy new, and need Android Auto and CarPlay. I know all new cars suck for privacy by default, but I was hoping someone here could offer some insight as to which cars can be made better and what...

LoveSausage , (edited )

Dacia, least bad one. Made a dedicated phone for the car without personal info as well. Rooted calyx OS , microG, organic maps and spottube. No simcard and VPN on WiFi. Not sure how much is still leaked but a lot better at least.

LoveSausage ,

Would love some info on where all this shit is located in the car. Someone should make a database of the different cars and how to block shit

LoveSausage ,
LoveSausage ,

You can buy Romanian cards on eBay , Vodafone works fine in Spain

LoveSausage ,

When you are attacked. Ok so when are you attacked , as soon as you connect outside. So unless you are air gapped you need a firewall.

LoveSausage ,

Scanned for vulnerability and exploited if found

LoveSausage , (edited )

If you are happy with the way things are no need to change, want to try something out ? Live CD or VM. Dual boot if you want to keep 2 systems.
Mint is pretty good. I like peppermint myself. A halfway stop between mint and arch. Shit works out of the box but runs on 1 GB ram. Worth checking out if you want to get some extra out of you computer

Alright boys, I've been converted to the light side and have installed F-Droid. Now what?

Basically title. I waited on installing F droid for a long time because my phone threw many scary warnings when I tried a long time ago. But now I have it, and I got some fossify apps, but since there is no "Editor's Picks" on F- droid I dont really know where to go from here....

LoveSausage ,

For some it's a trust issue since they F-droid is a middleman however with reproducible builds I don't have that worry. Feels like a good thing to have the code verified twice.
I have obtainium as well but had issues with some beta apps I wanted to use like organic maps. Obtainium only works if it is the way it's setup. Organic maps did not follow obtainiums way

Also to use obtainium you actually need to know the app exist, I have a lot of stuff from F-droid I would not have found without it

LoveSausage , (edited )

Nextcloud as already mentioned.

I got a 1tb lifetime deal on internxt , but very basic options. ( Securitywise really good though)
Syncthing to sync between units for small stuff.

Review https://www.cloudwards.net/review/internxt/

LoveSausage ,

True but you could set up a schedule /cronjob to move the files from the shared folder perhaps. Would be a bit extra traffic I guess if pics are not deleted on main device regularly.

LoveSausage ,

Sorry uh what come again?

LoveSausage ,

Funny guy ain't ya? Small dick energy all over

LoveSausage ,

Yea , a bit is expected. But use wireguard to get better speed

LoveSausage ,

Most are talking about the laptops. I have my eyes on a Mac mini to run asahi on. The biggest downsides with Mac hardware is reperability and upgrades. Some issues the Mac mini doesn’t have Vs laptops is ofc is no battery replacement , screen and keyboard webcam, mouse to use. and there are hubs for installing more storage. Ram is ofc a big minus. Looking at m2 16 GB 512 mb. And extend storage with something like this macworld.com/…/mac-mini-upgrade-hub-storage-ether… 40 Gbs thunderbolt would make it easy to extend storage at least.

As long as it doesn’t break I would take this over any alternative minipc . I use my ThinkPad today but 99% of use is at home anyway so no need for portability. Need to wait some time to get the extra funds for it but something like that…

LoveSausage ,

I will have to look into it , but all reviews/comparisons I have seen has been always that the Mac beats the others. I do not game , I want audio and some video editing besides code.

Power consumption is a point as well as I am planning on going off the powergrid eventually.

Is Ubuntu deserving the hate? ( lemmy.ml )

Long story short, I have a desktop with Fedora, lovely, fast, sleek and surprisingly reliable for a near rolling distro (it failed me only once back around Fedora 34 or something where it nuked Grub). Tried to install on a 2012 i7 MacBook Air… what a slog!!! Surprisingly Ubuntu runs very smooth on it. I have been bothering all...

LoveSausage , (edited )

Long time since I used Ubuntu, remember updates breaking network twice… Peppermint OS, Debian(and devuan if you don’t like systemd) based. all the important bits (not arch level) but nothing more. Rolling, Runs on 1 GB ram. Haven’t distro hopped anymore since I found it.

Stable base , extra on top

“Everything you need and nothing you don’t."

LoveSausage ,

Bookworm stable. peppermintos.com/about/

LoveSausage , (edited )

True , however most people do not use a pin for sim. And if you have the access a lot of info can be gain from a simcard. And even if you ain’t got access to network, any incoming traffic will go to you.

LoveSausage ,

Lol pixel 6 did have fingerprint reader issues. But pixels are incredible secure overall. But you got a bit of a fixation don’t ya?🤡
