At this point, making something that doesn't work using Wine or Proton is actually kind of an achievement, so congrats EA, you managed to fuck up both Origin and EA app. The actual game runs flawlessly, it's the launchers that are all kinds of broken.
The idea that Linux is not susceptible to malware is a really dumb take, in my opinion. I work in security and see Linux machines get popped all the time. Also, wine is good enough that malware will run under it.
Hey, I'm always searching a home server (already post here https://lemmy.ml/post/15083947), I was thinking about a Lenovo P500, but maybe the PSU is a bit too special......
This girl acts like Wikipedia owners don't realize this shit. It's about principles. Modern web is simply cancer that is eating out the planet from the inside, one TCP segment at a time (although with HTTP3 and QUIC we gotta call it a datagram!)....
Seriously? I'm subscribed to eweka and news hosting for nntp, as well as nzbgeek and nzbfinder for my indexers. Nzbgeek has a lifetime subscription option. You can get anything you're looking for. It's a simple subscription process.
What are you considering as 'top tier' that won't take a subscription?

I have a library of videos that I’ve downloaded with whisparr running in a docker container. I’ve had a problem with the sqlite DB getting corrupted on a daily basis. I followed the guide on switching to postgres and it only took about 15 minutes, including setting up a postgres server. I really recommend anyone running it...
Not criticizing in any way, but what’s the attraction of IPTV these days? Aside from sports, I just don’t see the attraction. Lots of free sources of live TV out there.

ive been using kodi (xbmc was better moniker) since google killed sagetv. i recall attempting plex, but it seemed to lack some open/extensibility (its been awhile)....
Sure, but the thing is Jellyfin and Plex both work pretty close to what I want without having to customize anything. I’m happy for everyone that likes Kodi, it’s just not for me. I’ve used Kodi on and off from back when it only ran on the Xbox as XBMC. I know what it’s capable of. I just don’t want to put that effort into it.
I managed to run The Sims 4 on Linux after over 6 hours

Whisparr is so much better with Postgres for its data back end
