Enhanced Links preview is a sync ultra feature. Perhaps, that's close to what you desire?

The CMF brand is aimed at the budget audience. Meanwhile nothing is in the upper midrange segment. Thats why.

Is there any solution available for controlling the volume without pressing the physical volume buttons ?

So I just bought a OnePlus 12 recently, I was used to controlling volume using the onehand operations goodlock module in my Samsung galaxy S23. I basically never had to press the volume buttons to control the volume unless absolutely necessary....

limerod ,

There is. I use an app called Software volume button

You can add the app to the sidebar for quick access and change the volume seamlessly.

As previously announced for the Pixel 8, the 8a will be getting on-device Gemini Nano — in a future update — as a developer option that users can enable for Recorder Summarization, better Gboard replies, and Magic Compose in Messages.

I'm guessing there is a negative in enabling this feature if it's going to be tucked in developer settings. Likely increased app reloads and the phone running hotter.

That's why I got a smart band. It tracks all useful metrics like HR, sleep, stress, SPO2 and does limited smartwatch stuff. Plus, it costs much less compared to a smartwatch without needing a ton of battery to boot with.

limerod OP ,

Pebble was the best smartwatch maker to date. It's unfortunate no one is capable of replicating the features, battery life, and community support like them. I like snazzy fast displays like anyone else. But, I also like weeks long battery life. A pebble like smartwatch with E-ink displays should be resurrected in the near future some day.

limerod OP ,

Yes, for that 5-10% battery improvement.

limerod OP ,

The model size for this task would be so small and energy consumption so miniscule it won't matter.

limerod OP ,

They have much more complex models running on-device. It would be laughable if this was not.

limerod OP ,

Hmm, that's not how it works.

limerod OP ,

Yeah, adaptive battery 1st introduced in android 9.

limerod OP ,

If it does, start a new car printing business.

limerod ,

The camera should be better. But, what midrange smartphones still provide a headphone Jack? I have all but seen it disappear alongside fading sdcard support.

limerod ,

Sony sells their smartphones in limited markets only. Mine is not one.

limerod ,

By midrange I meant Something more like A35/A55/M55, etc. So upper midrange hardware. Moto doesn't include a jack or even expandable storage on edge 40 Neo, edge 40, edge 50 pro.

As for Chinese phones the most prominent even Xiaomi has stopped including them in some of their phones. Not that I want to buy them. My software experience has not been great with Chinese OEMs.

So, if I want good software(Oneui, NothingOS, Moto HelloUI, etc) support and quality my choices are slim to zero.

I have made my peace with wireless unfortunately I don't want to do the same with micro sdcard. But, even that's fading in so many phones...

Pixel 3a was so long ago. That was one of the last pixels to include it. They removed the 3.5mm jack after 4a series.

limerod ,

Android will continue to support RISC-V. Due to the rapid rate of iteration, we are not ready to provide a single supported image for all vendors. This particular series of patches removes RISC-V support from the Android Generic Kernel Image (GKI).

Basically, they still support it. But, won't provide a GKI. So, vendors will need to do more work if they intend to run android on a RISC-v CPU.

limerod OP ,

They always remained in the phone business in limited capacity.

limerod OP ,

Yeah, they could've bought this in 2020. Even the budget smartphones were strong enough to do this.

limerod OP ,

Wow, I did not know it was present here.

limerod OP ,

This is for app installs not updates.

limerod OP ,

It was for parallel downloads when updating not for new app installs and it was later removed.

limerod OP , (edited )

It takes ages updating apps one by one. Your smartphone is capable enough to download and update multiple apps simultaneously speeding the install process significantly.

Edit: just downloads for now and hopefully updates in the future

limerod OP ,

But, it is efficient. If I download 2 or 3 large apps they get downloaded simultaneously and the lowest size app gets installed 1st. Meanwhile, previously it had to wait until one app was downloaded then wait to install them one by one. Which would be as much as 3 times slow.

limerod OP ,

Sorry yeah no updates yet but downloads.
