saying they're forcing you to disable tracking protection is giving them too much credit.

they basically just botched the switchover from one domain to another and forgot about extra tracking domains etc so firefox flagged it as coming from a different domain.

tbh as a trans person, facebook groups are pretty great. i've been some awesome trans people there that i still communicate with. also there's a good book community in groups too. groups are great at isolating you from the weird conspiracy theory public content in comments.

honestly i don't think this is too big a deal - search has always been more than just results like when you could enter in an equation and get a calculator widget or currency exchange.

i do think that stagnation has hit tech companies as a whole and i think google is suffering because of it. google i/o's and android used to be so exciting now it just feels like they're going through the motions (apple suffers from this too).

firefox develops an optional predictive search feature like every other search engine and browser has that actually protects user privacy that can easily be turned off so naturally the internet loses their mind over it and declares firefox dead.

harry potter kept me a live when i was in the closest before i transitioned. i made a lot of online friends through pottercast, leaky, and starkid so i still love reading it. i don't care about the new stuff (fantastic beasts was ruined when they stopped making it about newtina) and i don't buy any new books or anything.

i still read the ones i have though

jk rowling though? i honestly don't care i used to like it when i had twitter and she would do the wands up in may for the battle of hogwarts but even then it became clear that she didn't care

i don't just read hp though. i also love chris colfers land of stories and so many other book series since then (i have a lot more on goodreads i just can't list them all)

went to computer camp in the early 90s (yes i was the stereotype) and we learned basic programming on radio shack computers (the monitor/keyboard combined type - i can't remember the name)

then i moved on to qbasic and started programming basic type text adventure games with inventory management in my spare time :)

edit: looking it up, i believe it was the trs-80. it looks familiar but i'm not 100% positive. could have also been the model ii
