You know that "anti commercial AI license" shit does nothing, right? It's the equivalent of idiots posting that wall of text on Facebook a decade or so ago saying they don't give Facebook permission to use their pictures, posts...etc.

I mean if it makes you feel better and gives you a sense of control in an otherwise out-of-your-control environment then I suppose go for it, but you're not actually accomplishing anything other than making yourself feel slightly better and more deluded.

Yeah, ok, good luck enforcing that

NovaPrime ,

Disagree. Even if this goes through, it reads more like a liability waiver: it's power is more in the chilling effect vs. actual teeth in enforcement

Loved the article. Great blog overall. Glad you shared

What's the advantage over sftp, scp, or similar lower level protocols?

I say this with all due respect, but XML can gargle nuts.

The D.A. is the one to blame. Sure the zoning laws are shit, but the D.A. has discretion about which cases to bring and pursue. They could easily just move the fuck along like they do with any number of other cases they do in the year, but having worked with a number of these dipsticks in a previous life, I can guarantee you they saw it as an easy win and didn't expect to get the attention they did. D.A.s are just as bad as police officers when it comes to selective enforcement and application of the law and should be scrutinized much more closely during local elections.

You're always free to spin up your own server and host it if you're concerned about the way your data is being handled. Not something you can do with the corporate alternatives

Not my personal setup, but I've worked at orgs in the past where the tier0 infra was set up using terraform and all funneled through github PRs. To add users/gain access to resources...etc, users would submit a PR and someone on the IT team would review/reject accordingly. It allowed for scalability and version/config control, but still required human input for the actual security question decision making.

That’s a cute little scrunch. And a top tier pupper of course

I’m seeing a ton of these video YouTube self promotion posts. What happened to just writing this shit down in a human-consumable format and saving us all 20 minutes of scrolling through your SEO/YouTube crap?

It’s insane that we as a society are even having the debate between pushing capital investment strategies to adapt and come into the 21st century or dragging globally-distributed workers back to the 20th century just to avoid short-term pain and costs associated with updating outdated laws, tax incentives, and capital business practices.

I’ve always found doom and gloom reports like this amusing for this very reason. Yes the traditional approaches and value generating strategies may go away, but smart businesses and individuals will have brand new opportunities to fill the gap and innovate. It’s only those who reduse to or are not capable of adapting that stand to gain from the status quo.

Threads backtracks flagging right-wing users for spreading disinformation ( mashable.com )

When Threads launched on Wednesday, numerous right-wing users shared(opens in a new tab) their dissatisfaction(opens in a new tab) with Twitter’s biggest competitor — on Twitter of course — over having their accounts flagged for disinformation. As of Friday, however, it seems the warning label on accounts that reported the...

Personal morality alignment aside, the fact is those who support right wing policies and candidates, and those who identiy as ‘right wingers’ either explicitly or implicitly support right wing policies. These have time and time again been shown in practice to widen the inequality gap, suppress wages and purchasing power for non-capital owners, disproportionately reward corporate greed, roll back regulations put in place to preserve general health and welfare, decrease healthcare access and standards (same with education), disenfranchise minorities…etc.
