What is your experience with the search quality of 4get?

Hjalamanger ,
@Hjalamanger@feddit.nu avatar

Not really? It has alot of icons which are all driven by nerd font. Also you can basically use any font you want, neard just addes some extra glyphs

Those are amazing! There so cute 😍

I wounder if we could make a script to pick a random one and use it as a background image? It would be awesome to have those as background images but o don't know if the author would be okay with me using them for that

Maybe you should just have something like the DMA in the US to?

non-Euclidean filesystem

I noticed that I only had 5 GiB of free space left today. After quickly deleting some cached files, I tried to figure out what was causing this, but a lot was missing. Every tool gives a different amount of remaining storage space. System Monitor says I'm using 892.2 GiB/2.8 TiB (I don't even have 2.8 TiB of storage...

A typical quantum entangled hyperbolic non-linear file system, or QEHNLFS for short. This was first described in Einstein's fourth relativity theory. I states the following:

In any QEHNLFS the perceived storage space (used and unused) may vary depending on the reference frame. All reference frames are equally valid and therefore the absolute storage space of the QEHNLFS is not well defined. QEHNLFSs generally appear around a central supermassive black hole, typically located at /dev/null in the QEHNLFS

You'll need to add a ! In front of the community link to make it work

European Union: Designated gatekeepers must now comply with all obligations under the Digital Markets Act ( ec.europa.eu )

As of today, Apple, Alphabet, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft and ByteDance, the six gatekeepers designated by the Commission in September 2023, have to fully comply with all obligations in the Digital Markets Act (DMA)....

In case of an infringement, the Commission can impose fines of up to 10% of the company's total worldwide turnover, which can go up to 20% in case of repeated infringement.

Okay, this good! It seams like they've created a (very good) law and also a way to enforce it

To me that seems like a good idea, alternatives are always great. Sadly I can't help as my computer doesn't have Bluetooth and I don't know rust.

I'm trying to think of complaints about how this is really stupid but I can't come up with any so I will have to install Wayland and try to get this working with my Nvidia graphics card (or not that seams like a big pain)

Looks cool! Personally (as one who's mother though uses Latin script) I find Arabic or any non-latin script to look awesome.

Okay, amazing writing (:

Yep, depending on what you do the outdated Ubuntu packages can be a real pain. I'm going to switch from Linux mint sometime soon* for that reason.

You could just go to lemmy.world. That's your home instance, it works kinda like an email provider. And if you (for example) use gmail you can access your mail at the Gmail website and the same is true for Lemmy.

But just like you could download an email client you can get yourself an Lemy client and use that*. That client will make API requests to your home instance to get the posts it presents to you. Your home instance in turn will communicate with other instances in order to show their posts to you.**

clients/websites you could try

Here is one list and here is another. Also note that some clients are actually webapps.

* you probably know this considering you use the Lemmy client sync

** Disclaimer: the last part about how Lemmy works is just how I think it works based on what I have read. I could be completely wrong.

Yep, and that's the beauty of it ❤️🐧

Nice! It would be nice to see how "nice" you've been, aka the ratio between up votes and down votes. But that would probably require a login.
(Also we could take the up vote down vote ratio for the entirety of Lemmy to rate the content quality but that's a whole other story)

Well then, take your beloved capitalism and get the hell out of here. There are lots of profit driven social media platforms that you could try out.

I’ve been on Mastodon (but not twitter) for a little while and I wonder the same thing. I basically saw no interesting discussion, just “microblogs” and many that’s just how it is.

Will Lemmy soon drive Innovation in the Fediverse?

Currently lemmy is like the speedboat next to the heavy steam boat of Mastodon etc. While lemmy is still dynamic and flexible and can introduce new features easily without scaring off its established user base, mastodon can not do such experiments so easily. Now, if lemmy gains more momentum in the fediverse and establishes...

It’s ironic because bluesky is also going to have multiple servers sometime soon
