Appreciation post for db0 admins in light of .world blocking /c/ piracy and similar /c/'s .

I understand why they did what they did and it makes me think of how db0 and other admins are saying fuck all and taking a very big liability for making and supporting a free internet and i want to say all the work you do is very much appreciated. Also shoutout to lemmy.ml admins for running a similar community on their own ....

wasnt there a case where a very rare film was found thanks to torrents? Or a book? I dont quite remember but if I recall correctly it boosted the popularity and image of piracy?

And this here is exactly why i usually reply with some snark whenever someone claims I should use linux. Im not an IT guy, im a 3D artist with very limited knowledge of operating systems and computers, i did try to get linux only to find out that most of the programs I need to work with are broken in some way on linux, and updating them is a pain in the ass on a good day. Rendering also works in a very strange way, for some reason renderman requires using a terminal to work? Meanwhile on windows i can just launch my stuff and it works and rendering is as simple as clicking a button. I know window sucks, but at least its predictable and does what i need it to do.

funny thing is, since HADOPI was defunded, you can literally torrent like a madman without a VPN and no one will ever bother you, because the very thing supposed to stop people like me was defunded by the EU! Its nuts lol, but its also really damn convenient, I do keep it hush hush and only torrent sparsely and rarely, and never big files.

im a dummy when it comes to these things, I wanted to switch from win10 family to pro but uuh it didnt do anything really? It also told me I had corrupted services and then spent 30 min authenticating and froze.

so i dont think its working on my pc too well, but there is a very solid chance i dont understand how to use this tool
