Not sure why this was posted here. It’s not surprising an elderly lady had that opinion.

First wedding dresses are traditionally white. After that they aren’t. She wasn’t wrong but standards have moved on without her.

One commenter on X, who said their partner was on the Delta flight, reported that it “smelled horrible” and that vanilla-scented disinfectant used to mask the odor “only made it smell like vanilla s---.”

Hahahahhaha.

They do seem to be confidently incorrect often.

I think it’s grown a massive amount in 6 months. Back then I would say that was true. But now? Most posts have plenty of comments. Each month the number of average posts grow. It’s gotten to the point that 50% of the time there are so many comments I don’t read them all. We’re getting there.

I’ve had people argue about a specific field I’ve been in for 20+ years and be dead wrong. So yes, often, as I said.

Yup. I think that’s why it’s called Science Fiction not Science Nonfiction.

Probably putting Apple Watch and file features behind a sub. That happened ages ago but they really haven’t change the UI since I’ve been using it for a decade (or so).

What does this have to do with the article? Maybe I missed something reading it?

Ah, that makes sense now. Definitely didn’t pick that up at 6a this morning. 😉

“Wherever you get your podcasts” is a radical statement ( www.anildash.com )

[…] being able to say, "wherever you get your podcasts" is a radical statement. Because what it represents is the triumph of exactly the kind of technology that's supposed to be impossible: open, empowering tech that's not owned by any one company, that can't be controlled by any one company, and that allows people to have...

The aggregators don’t sync with each other. The podcast creators upload the new show to each aggregator (or use an app that uploads to multiple).

The reason companies want to control the podcast networks is because of targeted ads. They want to inject the ad at the time of downloading to personalize the ad to the person it thinks is listening. That’s the best kind of advertising in their eyes. They can’t do that process without owning the network or at least having some stake in it.

Heads up: People on Lemmy typically hate Reddit. That’s why we’re here and not there.

iMessage is pretty great to use honestly. Supports encryption, Tapbacks, read receipts, sharing any file type (not just pictures and video). RCS isn’t implemented in iOS yet and on launch won’t support encryption (supposedly Google is working to add it to the RCS standard, not just Google’s fork, now that Apple announced future support for the standard).

Good, well thought out points.

I’ll add Von Newman machines are more likely to be used in mobile devices and appliances.

Considering Quantum Fiber as an ISP, but they require the installation of a (permanent) C5500XK smart NID

Does anyone know if this enables any kind of tracking (either through WiFi device logging or network activity)? I’ve typically used my own networking modems and routers, I’m a little weary of a required smart device that I don’t have control over....

I have CL fiber (which is now Quantum Fiber) and the fiber line terminates in my ONT in my network/utility room.

1000/1000 fiber line but we sub to the 500/500 rate since that’s more than enough for the 5 of us in Colorado. We pay $60 month to month. No cap. We can move between two services, change the speed any time, and even turn it off whenever. Real world tops out at 500/500 on wired. Wireless on 6 not E is 420/250.

Don’t go to Lemmy it’s founders are bad. Conveniently ignores the Reddit CEO who is actively lying and user hostile.
