My grandparents were ferocious scrabble players, and I grew up with the rules being "if the biggest dictionary in the house says it's not a proper noun, and abbreviation, or a foreign term, it's legal". I remember going out one time to get my grandmother a new Word Book, because hers was literally falling apart.
I don't play - not good at that stuff - but I know the basics.

Avocado honey is dark,with a strong flavor. Eucalyptus is good. (The nectar is enough to give you a sugar high. I've tasted it.)

My grandparents played scrabble. My grandmother only stopped when she couldn't see the tiles any more. The usual word guide was the biggest dictionary available (and the Scrabble Word Guide was also present).

I grew up with Hydrox, not Oreos. There were regional brands back then: Hunt's catsup, Hydrox and Mother's cookies, that kind of thing.
