surprisingly, I’m sure getintopc’s mods are same as the notorious oceanofgames yet it is considerably a more reputable site. Although I have to say it is mentioned on the megathread with the unsafe sites as one of the ones Particularly avoided by the pirate community.

If you already downloaded the file then scan with Kaspersky or Malwarebytes as they are imo the most reputable AVs in the industry nowadays (the free tier of Kaspersky is more than enough). Alternatively I think you can copy the download URL and patse it on virustotal and get the file scanned (no need to actually upload I think).

Proton VPN on Linux looks very different from Windows. How do you select one of their P2P options for faster torrenting?

Pretty much what the title says. I noticed that ProtonVPN Linux has an EXTREMELY limited interface compared to their program on Windows. umm, I got confused. I’d like to line with the “posts are getting deleted randomly” party. I mean the only thing not being deleted at this point is the memes, the cringe worthy memes. no discussions (unless very basic) or guides are flourishing on that subreddit anymore. and besides why stay on reddit in the first place if it is the reason they must act like this?

how do I get desktop or at least browser notifications when someone here replies to my posts?

I’m on Ubuntu using Firefox browser. I get the notifications from reddit on my desktop. On the top toolbar, there is a bell icon where I can find unread notifications from telegram, firefox (from the sites allowed to send notifications), the package manager (about software updates) …ect. Whenever someone replies to my post...

I think uBO on Firefox is enough, but you need to remove other extensions as they might block thing on youtube, thus being detected.

I made a thing to make playing YouTube videos locally from your browser easier ( gitlab.com )

The other day someone was complaining about the new ad blocker-blocker on YouTube and I mentioned that it might be fun to write a Firefox extension that would just load up yt-dlp and play the video through mpv....

I downloaded the game from soft32 (this file used to work on the old days). I installed both WINE and Lutris, but the game runs like sh**t. I get .NET and Vulkan errors from Lutris&WINE. Can you give me a newbie friendly guide for the right way? I’m tired of scrapping the web and it doesn’t help that I have limited data....

I made a user script for youtube which makes a piped button beside each video. ( greasyfork.org )

I made a user script that will make a button on each video which jump you to piped, that way you can continue to use YT to manage your subscriptions and see your feed, but you never have to watch to video there

The best thing is you got no telemetry (your data not being tracked), no ads and you can download the video you’re watching. The project is open source on github, and you can host it on your own server if you prefer not have someone in the middle between you and Youtube.

google is manageable for me, especially because of firefox extensions, but windows is unmanageable, ads on desktop and using my data plan (limited GBs) secretly. My problem is not with privacy, it stems from the performance of my pc and internet. Much like the problem with Denuevo. Also, I don’t sacrifice performance for the sake of privacy, for instance I’d uninstall google apps from phone cuz they use resources, even little, but I won’t use a VPN cuz it will make net usage slow.
