If there are any artists out there interested in contributing artwork to a desktop environment, the KDE VDG is looking for a drawing of Konqi in a third-party repo page for Welcome Centre: https://invent.kde.org/teams/vdg/issues/-/issues/46
WTF @kde? Who translated the name of the months in Persian calendar?! They're correct in English, but 6 out of 12 of them are wrong in Persian! #KDE#Plasma6
Well. Seems I have to reinstall #OpenSUSE#Tumbleweed. I tried restoring as many of my custom #KDE theme settings as I could remember before retrying to upgrade to #Plasma6. It didn't help. Colors being screwed I get, but why are so many things are straight up missing. Volume widget? BT widget? Whole sections in the Plasma Settings are just gone. ???
I finally budged and used pmbootstrap to make my own customization of @postmarketOS . The experience was not so smooth as the documentation was not specific enough and scattered, but I finally did it 🎉 with PmOS edge channel (rolling release) and #KDE#Plasma6 .
I should give props to both @postmarketOS and @kde mobile folks for such gorgeous view and clean experience. It is astonishingly beautiful, and many Plasma5 issues are fully solved!
Tbh, I'm still super impressed with smoothness of :kdenew: KDE Plasma5 on :postmarketos: PostMarketOS on such an old phone (Samsung Galaxy A300FU). Truly an achievement. Of course it is far from optimal (e.g notifications can clutter the screen and their close button are out of bound of the display).
One of the KDE Plasma features I use almost in daily basis is the MouseMark.
Go to your settings, in Desktop Effects, Enable the MouseMark (you can change the settings of it in the button in front of it). Then press Meta+Shift and move your mouse to doodle, or press and release Meta+Shift+Ctrl to define beginning and end of an arrow (it will draw the rest.
Interestingly enough, it have been in Plasma for the past 16 years:
@Pantherina I don't know what you mean by Autoremove, but here are some tips:
Undo the last line by Meta+Shift+F12
Clean everything by Meta+Shift+F11
In the latest version (at least the one that is in KDE's git repo, users can change all those keybindings. Checkout mousemark.kcfg and mousemark_config.ui files in this link:
KDE releases today Plasma Mobile 6. Check out its renewed base system and apps.
This version comes with a new and improved shell, a new home screen with heaps of new features, enhancements of the base system, improvements in apps like Clock, Kasts and Photos, and much more.
I don't think #Plasma6 is ready for prime time. When I open apps, the title bar goes above the screen space and I can't move or close the app or use the menus.
So far, I have to say that my #KDE#Plasma6 experience sucks.
The theme I was using doesn't work. The icons all suck. EventCalendar, which was synced to my Google calendar is dead. Vivaldi looks like crap. The panel at the bottom of my screen is floating up probably 100 pixels, leaving useless space below it, I can't find a way to sink it to the actual bottom of the screen. I had increased all my font sizes because my eyes are bad, they have all shrunk and changing the font sizes and the interface percentage doesn't fix it.
@opensuse
Hi @opensuse . If possible, I'd like to get some information about the release of #Plasma6 on #Tumbleweed . Most important queston : when will the DE be available on the repos ? Will we be able to keep our old Plasma 5 config alongside Plasma 6, choosing the DE with SDDM ? Does the switch to wayland need some config changes ? etc... Thanks !
