Very chill. But this screams "dont theme my Apps/OS/Icons" so much.

Vanilla GNOME 43 on Debian 12 looks gorgeous, this looks like from 2005

In case you're wondering why this post is being downvoted. Your title says nothing about what the video is about. You don't add any context or information of your own. This makes it look like some cheap clickbait to boost a YouTube channel.

That makes sense, She just randomly got recommended in my feed and her way of explaining things was enthusiastic so thought of sharing it here with the community, not affiliated with the channel or her in any way.

You are able to edit titles on Lemmy, if you'd like.

Which changes nothing. This is not a political video

I'm personally not going to hate on or dismiss a person based on political opinions or ideologies

Iapar ,

Why not? "We should exterminate all non-whites" seems like a pretty good reason to dismiss a person.

Neps ,
@Neps@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Is that what she said?

Iapar ,

The conversation moved on from that old fart to a broader point of not dismissing a person on behalf of their political views.

I gave an example of a view which is ground for such dismissal so your question is wrong because it isn't about that specific women anymore.

Suppoze ,
@Suppoze@beehaw.org avatar

Such hateful ideas are a symptom which can have wast variety of root cause. Your example is quite extreme and I agree it rightfully warrants hatred, but I'd argue that it's all the more reason to not dismiss a person. We should seek connection with and understand these people and prevent destructive ideas from spreading IMHO, because there will be others who also won't dismiss the person - only difference is that they might be receptive for hateful ideas.
Sorry if I came across supporting these ideas, this is not the case.

    It's not a problem to hate the far right.

    Also I understand if people get uncomfortable if you say "I love..." what might be a nazi (not saying she is, because i don't care to do more research)

    (also don't you think it's a little bit silly to complain about seperating politics from person if you literally have your hyper specific affliction in your bio?)

    Why do we need to separate somebodies core beliefs from the person?

    That is the person. What they do and what they believe makes them who they are. I hate this "please just ignore this massive section of what makes up a person" trend. Sure though, you can still like this video separating creator from content, but if somebody does something terrible it's ok to no longer like that person as shown here with "I love them" followed by "I now understand more about this person and no longer love them"

    Welcome to authoritarianism! In politics, beliefs often change over time, and often isn't a “core” belief as you state. Life experiences help with this change in so-called core beliefs. Belief is fluid.

    Authoritarianism is when you judge people by their actions and beliefs, today I learned.

    I'm sorry, that's incredibly funny. I love lemmy all the weirdos come out to say the wildest shit.

    Sure, their core beliefs can change, as can my opinion of them when this happens.

    To clarify. Authoritarianism is the belief that a singular authority should hold strong control over a system often meaning those who act against it or disagree should face punishment output by said system. I dislike people who agree with that idea, but if they change their opinion mine may too

    Wdym these days? Would you sit at the table with a neo nazi? Thought not. I wouldn't sit at the table with someone who's undoing years of scientific progress in eradicating deadly diseases.
