On 30 April 1993, at Tim Berners-Lee's urging, CERN released the code for the World Wide Web to the public for free.

@w3c Releasing the code was not a big deal, as far as I can remember it wasn’t much used. Releasing any IP claims on the protocol was the big deal.

@w3c I just realized my site actually existed for (soon) 16 years – which is by now the majority of the time the web has been around.

Guess I should add an 'est. 2008' badge of honor or something to my new site… :thinkhappy:
