@gbhnews This tree is at least one foot across and so tall it doesn't even fit in the frame. For reference, the tree in the foreground is much closer and 7 feet tall. I would have moved to get it out of shot but the tree on the opposite side has poison ivy growing on it :(
@gbhnews We have a lovely old White Pine in our suburban backyard. Without cutting it down and counting its rigs, we have to guess its age - it could be close to 100. It's about 2 feet across at the base.
@gbhnews While out cycling in the mountains here in Japan last week, I came across a Shinto shrine with a very old Kayaki tree that is 7 feet in diameter. The massive branches are broken & rotted away (lost in a typhoon?), but younger ones are growing strong.
The image doesn’t convey how thick & chonky the gnarled trunk is. I took my wife back to visit it.
There is also a taller & narrower cedar tree, about 3 feet in Diameter.
@gbhnews This one's thicker than it looks in the photo. It must be three feet in diameter. It's right beside the High School in Newmarket, New Hampshire.
@gbhnews No pictures, but we have a real thicc oak tree in our backyard. When we bought the house I screwed in an eye-bolt and carabiner to set up a hammock, and this week I noticed that the tree has started to engulf the carabiner!
