What's your opinion on using rw Blu-ray disks for storing movies, ect?

Well I thought about using them instead of buying a hdd, I looked for some comparisons and found a 50 pack of 25gb blu ray drives and a 2tb harddrive for 60, it can store 35 movies more (thinking the movie is 24 GB) than the pack of drives, and that isn't accounting the disk drive to read the disks...

Photos and phone data for nicely in this category. $10 is a steal.

Hey look, it's the Incus guy. Every time this topic comes up, you chime in and roast Proxmox and it potential issues with a link go a previous comment roasting Proxmox and it's potential issues and at no point go into what those potential issues are outside of the broad catch all term of 'bloat'.

I respect your data center experience, but I wish you were more forward with your issues instead of broad, generalized terms.

As someone with much less enterprise experience, but small business it administration experience, how does Incus replace ESXi for virtual machines coming from the understanding that "containerization is the new hotness but doesn't work for me" angle?

I bought a 2021 VW GLI, it has a software component called Car-net that has literally never worked. I don't even know what it's supposed to do. The little I've found is that it's supposed to have an app remote start and maybe a few other features, but according tk carnet, my car is still dealer owned. There have been at least six contacts to the car net folks from the dealer about the issue. I have a remote start on my FOB so whatever, but the car software support issue is so real. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I can relate. (fem)Shepard (Jennifer Hale) is a superior voice actor to male Shepard in mass effect.

Giga, but tuck openSUSE closer to the mascot. Use the negative space between the feet and above the open in a clever way.

“hey here’s news. Maybe. I can’t actually tell you. It’s just what I was told. This hasn’t been relevant to me since it once was. But here’s a blog post about it. I like cheese.”

How to let my kids find quality games on Android? Right now they only find the pay to win / ad riddled games.

My 9yo daughter has a tablet with family link, so I can monitor what apps she wants to install. As the garbage games are mostly at the top free, she keeps asking for games that I reject, in most cases because it’s riddled with ads....

Good luck. We tried that rule too, it has led to so much stress and fighting. I’m certainly not suggesting to not try and hold the line. I’m just wishing you luck with it.

Fossil offers a hybrid smartwatch now to full those shoes. I really liked mine when I had one, but it didn’t fit my hands free needs well enough.

My child’s school sends out a clearance form at the start of every year asking for or to withhold consent. If your parent’s provided consent, I’m not sure what more you can do about it.

You underestimate the casual gaming crowd. The same people who buy all of the sims content, still play animal crossing to get cozy in bed before sleeping every night.

I used Kanboard for years prior to switching to a SaaS product for my sign shop. It was great for tracking the fabrication of projects in different steps.

Bullshit. My fossil gen5 sport still doesn’t have Google assistant.

[edit to correct myself] apparently I did receive an update at some point recently that finally brought Goog assist

What's the history behind cam rips of movies and where have they typically came from?

I’ve seen a few throughout my life at friend’s houses as a kid during the age of Limewire. Typically they were pretty good quality even though you’d see the odd person get up from their seat or hardcoded subtitles. Lately I’ve been curious about the history behind them and how they came to be....

There is a social aspect to it. For corporate workers, people are almost ostracized and excluded for not ‘being up with the latest big thing’. It’s toxic, and I hope starting to change, but I imagine these would be the primary audience go ogling “barbie movie stream free” and clicking the first ad-ridden site they find.

I’ve tried to roll out Borg a few times over the years and always hit a roadblock for one reason or another. Perhaps it was the lack of any front end at all and Borg just chilling in the background, but the documentation was never really clear on what the next steps were.

The only feature worth upgrading my PaperWhite for would be better resolution and the warm color frontlighting. If they release a robust color kindle, I’ll probably bite but I imagine Amazon isn’t doing that because it would be the last kindle anyone buys.

I have strong opinions on the baconbits folks. I’m happy they’re gone. “humiliate yourself so we unlock your account” get bent clowns.

Nope. That was their stated policy if your account went stale.

I would like to have a screen in my home displaying a summary of different information that is relevant to me, like weather forecast, bus/train times, news headlines, etc. I was planning to use a Raspberry Pi and either buy a screen to display the information or just show it on my TV. It could probably be as simple as serving a...

+1 for Heimdall, but I don’t think it does widgets. It’s more like a Intranet homepage.
